Made Some Album Covers

They look cool... but I think Revelation is a little too inspired by Live to Die lol

That makes sense. I just recommed making it a little more changed. Cool idea though. The s/t reminds me of Deliverance's s/t.

If you want to see my cover it's in the Promotion Palace (was about to abbreviate that but decided not to for obvious reasons) thread, though it's pretty amature photoshop.

That's a sick cover. I like it a lot. And there's still inspiration from LtD without looking like a direct copy. Nice!

What color do you think the text should be? The red doesn't look bad it just feels of with everything else being grey or black.

I don't know, I think the red fits because dark red is usually the color most associated with grays and reds.

Both the black and grey look good. 

I would brighten the red - especially on the grey version.

The red is a bit brighter on the black. I don't want to make it too light though.

You asked what we thought so I’ll give you what I think. Your first album cover is pretty cool because you drew it and it’s your art. It’s similar a bit to Deliverance, yet it’s not. You made it your own. Very cool.
I think you can rework your second album cover. All I see is Bride. Is that what you want your music and hard work to be? It’ll be seen as a ripoff. If you like Gustave Dore’s art, then simply choose another of his drawings. There are plenty of them. Change the font a bit and make it readable with better coloring. The album title seems to get lost in the coloring and font.
This is just my opinion and I’m not criticizing…I honestly like your idea on the first cover. Make all your art your own and you’ll appreciate it because it’s your own. Keep at it CTR!

Look lower on the thread and he did redo the Revelation cover. I really like the new one.

Yeah that looks better than the previous ones. Still looks like Bride to me though. Maybe lose the drop caps and use a different font. Again, I’m not being critical, just my opinion because CTR asked what we thought. It’s all good if that’s what you envision.

Here's another band that used the same illustration in 1993. Bride's was earlier (1988).

No this is the one he was in. 

He was the drummer early on. Played on this EP as well as their first full-length, In The Nightside Eclipse.

I used to be into these guys quite a bit back in the day.

Don't listen to too much extreme metal anymore though.

Oh, okay. I'm sure there's gotta to other metal bands named Emperor.

Emperor is my favorite Black Metal band. There really is no one I have heard In the over saturated clone world of black metal as good as Emperor. That cover, called "the vision of Death" is by a french artist,  Gustave Doré, the same piece Bride used on to live is to die before the mighty Emperor had it for the Wrath of the Tyrant and the split EP with Enslaved. Speaking of that EP, the version of I am the black Wizards on that is some of the best black metal ever written in my opinion.

Just remembered, the album inlay for wrath of the tyrant also has the same image as the Bride album cover, show no Mercy. So it has both of Bride's first two album covers on the one album. Maybe they were Bride fans... though somehow I have my doubts.

Yeah that's awesome. The fonts good too, different for a thrash band.


the first one with the break the chains thing, looks like an early thrash demo cover from a band of the original thrash period and looks pretty legit thrash. But I'd go for the one above, do something different, stamp your own mark on it so to speak. That's my reckons anyway. Good luck.
