Share your favorite instrumental metal albums. Can be any type/genre.

One is my favorites is Koyaanisqatsy - From the Yearning to Burst the Perpetual Circle. They are a band from Germany that only released this one album. You can find the audio on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL61701FEDAD69FCA6

I don’t go much for instrumental metal, but I do toss on TQT’s Antiseptic Bloodbath Voiceless from time to time.

If only the first two Vengeance Rising albums were instrumental…

Mastery has a full EP of instrumental thrash. It’s kinda like old school Deliverance meets modern Exodus!

I can enjoy (or at least tolerate) an EP of instrumentals. As long as there’s plenty of catchy riffs and some speed to move it along, (opposed to a slow batch of doom songs that go nowhere).

My idea of doom is Psalm 9 by Trouble. And it does have one instrumental “Endtime”. But that song is full of great riffing!

Can't think of any full instrumental metal albums. But I do love Metallica's Instrumentals from Lighting, Puppets and Justice, and Seventh Angels Instrumentals fro Lament. They'd be my favorite Metal Instrumentals.

Recollections of a Life Once Lived is probably the best of the SA ones. And yeah, all three of those Metallica ones are great.

I'm the same as most of you - I don't listen to instrumental albums very much. I will listen to them when I'm working as a bit of background music.

My favourites:
John Petrucci - Suspended Animation
Liquid Tension Experiment - both albums

Honestly believe had they become a house name like Slayer and Metallica etc, that drum fill to start Recollections off would've been Iconic. Yeah I love that Instrumental what a great why to began a great album. Also, like Jayson, Tank has a sound of his own on the those there skins.

All of the hard rock/metal guitar virtuoso's have great songs. Yngwie Malmsteen, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Doug Doppler (isn't he a Christian as well?)

The problem I think that we all would run into is that none of them have one album that is engaging all the way through. I end up creating custom playlists of my favourite songs from a variety of artists. If anyone wants me to post some of my favourites from them, just ask. If not, I'm too lazy to do it of my own initiative...

I used to listen to a lot of Shrapnel Records instrumental shred albums but they don't hold my attention like they used to.
But there were some good ones by Vinnie Moore, Jason Becker, Greg Howe, Marty Friedman, Tony MacAlpine, Joey Tafolla, Michael Lee Firkins, and others.

Also the last Angelica album was really good, the instrumental one called "without Words."
I don't think too many people gave it a chance but it's quite good for what it is because Dennis Cameron's playing is sensitive and engaging, not just balls-to-the-wall like many shredders.

Never cared too much for instrumental metal, but my favorite instrumental by a metal band is Signum Regis’s Amorenada. Such a beautiful song, i’d even say it’s my favorite from SR

I love most of Metallica’s instrumentals: The Call of Ktulu, Orion, To Live Is to Die, Suicide & Redemption.

I also love some of TQT’s, particularly Whitewashed Tomb and Immunity Vector.

Could Moanjam by King's X be called a metal Instrumental... it's kind of a black church soul stomping blues motorhead-hoedown...

If so that's on my list too.

DAH!!! It's got lyrics in it! How'd I forget that!

And if we're talking guitar virtuosos then a bunch of those too. Guess Vinnie Moore is Neoclassical metal, more so his early work. Don't think Malmsteen has ever produced a record that is fully instrumental, aside from with the Japanese Philharmonic Orchestra, but not a studio album that I can think of.
