Nu Metal is good

Limp Bizkit is so bad it’s almost hilarious. Especially their lyrics. “Give me something to break, how bout your &@$%ing face?” Pure poetry lol. As much as I hate Nirvana i’d have to put them above LB

To be honest I don’t think ever heard a LB album in its entirety. That was a conscious choice on my part.

Sort of on this subject, but when it comes to modern metal-adjacent genres, metalcore is far worse than nu-metal. Unfortunately a lot of the most well-known Christian “metal” bands happen to be part of this genre for some reason

With you on that Seth! Can't stand Metalcore or anything with "core" in it's title. I'd rather listen to the biscuit.

Yeah the mainstream Christian Metal bands are Stryper, POD, and then like 5 metalcore bands. I don't mind core, but it kind of has all the flaws of death metal (monotony and indecipherable lyrics) without the amazing energy and cool sounding vocals. I do agree with Seth about A Secret Ending being well above average for its genre.

To be honest though, if you look into the lyrics of something like Flotsam & Jetsam's K.Y.A. it's not much better than that. That song musically is one of the best Flotsam songs ever made, but wow the lyrics are something else.

The song literally is about a beef with someone and in several different ways telling him you're a sissy I'm gonna beat you. Interestingly the song in current times sounds like some very violent anti-trans thrash anthem, and the members of the band must be sweating while hoping cancel culture doesn't find that song even though that's not at all what they were going for with it, but you know how it is these days. It must've been written tongue firmly in cheek as there's something very funny in a nearly 50 years old man sounding very serious and insulting someone by saying he looks like a girl and literally even saying "run home cry to mama", lol

In the 80's this song would've probably been about glam vs thrash, and maybe it's supposed to an ironic and nostalgic throwback to those days. The song was recorded in 2010.

It really is an amazing thrash song but the lyrics are on the same level as the cheesiest nu metal lyrics can be.

Ironically the opening of the song sounds like something from a nu metal song!

I guess it's less "nu came from thrash" and more "nu came from groove, which came from thrash"

For me, normal death is more consistent, more likely to be really good, but less likely to be great

The more melody and less traditional death metal influence, the better it is imo. Folky melodeath like Wintersun >>>

I have a friend who used to constantly listen to melodeath back in the early-to-mid 2000s. Sounded like every single song was a variation on Maiden's "Murders In The Rue Morgue", but with extreme vocals.
