What's a band that the vocals kill it for you?

Other than Roger of VR, Chris Boltendahl of Gravedigger ruins them for me. Otherwise I love the music.

Vengeance Rising and Ultimatum. I have not sampled every album, but all the vocals I heard were bad enough to ruin it for me.

Stop the Bleeding is listenable but sometimes hard for me to take seriously because the vocals are so bad. It is an inch away from being album-ruining.

Ultimatum is the right answer. I like their song One for All, but most of their stuff the vocals are really weird sounding, and not in a good way

Ultimatum doesn't bother me. But for those it does, check out Into the Pit. Scott used a more guttural vocal on it and it works better.

Stop the Bleeding is great, although a couple of songs are borderline grating vocally (primarily Ready or Not).

Vengeance Rising comes very close to being ruined by the vocals, but I live with them.

Yeah One for All is from that album, and he uses a pretty standard thrash voice there

Any metalcore band where the "singer" screams throughout the entire song.
I am not a masochist!

Any deathcore band that does that stupid pig squeal stuff.
Maybe do it for a song or two, but a whole album? Give me a break.

That reminds me. A lot of the slam death metal vocals. So bad they’re comical.

I recall quite a few posters in the past that don't like him - not a big deal. Les Carlson is an acquired taste. I don't hate it, but really am not into it either. Dude's been at it forever though. He had a solo album in the early 70's. Respect.

For me:

Bride (see the Adam Sandler doing Axl Rose bit) and most extreme metal especially the wimpy clean vocals inherited from emo in metalcore.

Is the biggest reason I couldn't tolerate Bride on the stuff from Drop -through- Here is Your God.

The new one is good enough to buy... assessment TBD.

A couple for me:

Divine Retribution—the vocalist has a nice voice, but the vocals are off-key quite a bit on the album.

Guardian: First Watch—this doesn’t quite ruin the album since the vocals are on key, but I’ve always found Paul’s vocals too weak for the music, especially compared to Jamie.

Living Sacrifice: Nonexistent—if the vocals were more locked into the music and a bit more intelligible, it’d be fine. But as it is the vocals make it hard to enjoy the album.

Dale Thompson is a interesting case. On some albums his vocals are some of the best I’ve ever heard, on others he sounds like a knockoff Axl Rose

For me, when they do the extreme or core vocals that are growling, screetching, or pig squealing. I am out at that point. I can handle those techniques if they are used sporadically to emphasize a phrase to add power and have even used growling on a couple of instances myself for this purpose. But, if that is all, or mostly, what you bring to the table, I ain't eatin' at that table. I will find something with more melodic vocals.
