Dark Angel or Slayer?

Time for another random thrash poll! 

Two of the more intense thrash bands for their time. But who do you prefer?

I’m gonna have to give it to Slayer because of Seasons. But I like both bands. There are several Slayer albums I won’t touch because of lyrics and imagery, but they have some good stuff. Dark Angel has some problematic lyrics but they tend to be more thoughtful than Slayer (not that that’s hard). Time Does Not Heal is a MONSTER album, though.

BTW, Kerrick, you can only vote for Slayer once. Don’t go making separate accounts just to inflate the numbers.

Dark Angel has two really good albums (Time Does Not Heal, Darkness Descends), one that isn't as great (We Have Arrived) and one that's ruined by a horrid production (Leave Scars).

Slayer was great from Show No Mercy all the way thru Divine Intervention (my personal fav from them). After that, it's hit & miss with them.

My vote goes to Slayer.

I listen to Dark Angel more. Slayer is okay but I never understood the hype for them.

Dark Angel, but I love a lot of Slayer songs.

Very curious to hear the new DA album.  I hope the drums sound organic and not clicky.

Seasons in the Abyss is one of my top three thrash albums, but Dark Angel has two albums I really like a lot (Darkness Descends and Time Does Not Heal).

I guess I’ll go with Dark Angel, but only by a tiny fraction! To me Seasons by Slayer is musically perfect, and I love the raw (but sonically clear) production. It also has my all time favorite drum sound by Dave Lombardo. The drums are tight, natural and crisp (especially the snare). The guitars are also dialed in nice with a cutting precision.

It’s such a toss up between Seasons and those two DA albums I like. I could easily change my vote tomorrow if I was allowed to!

The main drawback with DA is the bloated length of most of their songs. Slayer keeps their songs in the 3-4 minute range on Seasons. The flow is much better!

Have to go with Slayer just for those early albums...

I liked "We Have Arrived" but could never get into "Darkness Descends" no matter how many times I tried....
