I buy the occasional CD or vinyl if I can find a good deal.
I keep a music budget so I don’t overspend.

Seems I can barely afford new cds when including costs of shipping in many cases (especially from Boones).
Starting to go back to just more digital downloads where they are available to help reduce cost.

Yeah, when you factor in shipping from some of these places the CD ends up being double what the download is.

New bands always get purchased on CD. If I truly love it I may pick up the vinyl at some point.
Digital downloads are only purchased in rare cases when CDs aren't available.
I actually really like buying old cassettes. I prefer analog recording and analog media.

Cassettes are making a comeback. I should’ve held on to mine from years ago.

What is the most you would pay for a CD including shipping?

It seems like even download prices have gone up though in the last couple of years.

Somewhat. Most stuff I get is still $8–10 for a download. I’ll pay up to $18ish (including shipping) for a CD, but won’t go over that unless it’s SUPER rare and not available as a download.

Im pretty much in line with Pethead on my price point, but will always go digital first and CD ONLY if not offered on digital.Pethead wrote:Temple of Blood wrote:Pethead wrote:Staybrite wrote:I'm kind of glad I never started re-collecting vinyl because that is too rich for me.

Boones and Girder are one of the same for the most part. Les carlsen's new 8 song EP is going to be $16 CD plus $6.00 shipping = $22 total for an 8 song CD.a_donkey-named-kevin wrote:Yeah! The prices have gotten stupid!, along with the inflated Shipping cost's.. I had a whole list of Vinyl that I wanted, but Ive decided at the current prices etc, they can keep the Vinyl, Ive got back to CD, through other retailers.. well, until last night.. I bought Baptized in filth and Death will Reign by Impending Doom on Vinyl, but they were $27 something each.. with shipping at various levels. but yeah.. Boones has gone off the deep end. and Girders are following..
$45 vinyl plus $8.50 shipping = $53.50......crazy

I would consider it an EP...somewhat. It's not quite a full album. At least to me :-). Either way it's overpricedTemple of Blood wrote:8 songs is an EP?

That tray insert photo he shared on his facebook page shows 9 songs.
But unless there are one or two epic length songs (which I kind of doubt) it will still fall a little short of what most full length albums are today.

I just want 8 bangers per album. I'm not really into EPs or long albums.

Yeah, I don't have many albums with 12-14 songs that don't include filler tracks. I've gone so far as to strip some of those songs out and just listen to the 8-10 songs that I really like. I dig EPs unless there is only one good song. If it's gonna only be 3-5 songs they better all be pretty darned good (thinking Queensrche debut EP, or Armored Saint's 3 track debut).

I disagree, but that's the beauty of music. It's speaks to everyone differently. 10-13 songs per album to me is perfect. Sure there may be a filler on a couple, but I enjoy those too.Temple of Blood wrote:Most albums with 12,13 songs just have a bunch of filler. To me filler tunes are not always bad. I dig 'em and sometimes they even grow on me and become great songs!
