Favorite and least favorite Anthrax albums?

My favorite secular thrash band. Maybe my favorite secular metal band period.
My favorite would be Persistence of Time but a tiny nose hair over Spreading the Disease. I love every Belladonna album, but those are tops for me.
My least favorite is actually Fistful of Metal. They hadn’t really found their sound yet IMHBAO.
What say ye?

Worship Music was a fantastic comeback. The hooks on that album are killer. For All Kings is good, too, although not quite as excellent.MagnusPrime wrote:Hard to choose - I love almost everything they've done.

My favorite is actually Sound of White Noise, I love the vocals of Bush. Then it's a toss up between Among the Living and PoT.

John Bush rules!
Layne Staley had a similar quality to his voice IMO.
Both great singers.

SoWN is a great album and Bush is great. Love Armored Saint, as well.

SoWN is amazing, no bad songs. After that the songwriting wasn't as strong but still they have some good songs and hearing him on rerecorded stuff on Greater of Two Evils was cool

SoWN is a great album. I think Stomp 442 might be the worst Bush album.

I like Sound Of White Noise and Fistful Of Metal the best.
The rest (at least the ones I've heard) get boring after awhile, but have some great songs here and there, especially Persistence Of Time.

I was also never that much into Anthrax but: 1) I appreciate the influence they had on the scene. "Fistful" might not be popular in this thread but it had a big impact on metal when it came out. And 2) They're hometown boys...!

It’s been so long since I spun Fistful. I might end up putting it above Stomp. Well there's no question that Belladona Anthrax is more popular and known and sold more. But I really liked Neil Turbin because I always liked those 80's "screams" in metal, and he was great at them.

I didn’t have a problem with Turbin’s vocals, I just don’t think they had really found their sound yet on Fistful.

To me, Neil Turbin sounds like a mixture of Paul Stanley and Eric Adams.

Fistful came out when the scene was fairly "murky".
The genres of Thrash, Speed and Power Metal were still not as clearly defined as they would become by the late 80s.
I think Anthrax's success with Belladonna, as well as a more pronounced Thrash direction (along with the rapid development of the genre itself), kind of left "Fistful" in a sort of musical limbo. If they had kept on with Turbin and stayed with that Metal Church-ish US Power Metal-oriented style, I think the album would be held in higher esteem today.
I like it pretty well (even though it's my least favorite), though I can see why so many don't care for it.
It needs a good remaster.
