Siloam and Ransom
Siloam (first 2) vs. Ransom
This time we’ve got some melodic metal for y’all.
Siloam (Sweet Destiny and Dying to Live) vs. Ransom (s/t and Soul Asylum)
For me the choice is easy. Siloam. Both Ransom albums are good, but both Siloam albums are fantastic.
Also, it drives me nuts that the two best Ransom songs (Sin Killer and Sticks and Stones) weren’t part of the official albums.

Have to go with Siloam even though I do not care for their 1st album.
It's that "Dying To Live" album that puts them over the top.
That said, I like the 1st Ransom album quite a bit but I agree that the two songs mentioned should have been on at least one of their albums.

If you put all the good Ransom songs together you'd have an EP. Siloam all the way

If you wanted those songs, you should have gotten the reissue of their debut as those demos were included on the CD.
Re: Siloam (first 2) vs. Ransom
I gotta go with Ransom as I find myself revisiting those more frequently. While they did change their style some from the first album to the second, at least they still were the same band.
With Siloam, they were plagued with never having a consistent lineup.

I did. I was lamenting their decision to not record them as part of the official album. I have them as bonus tracks on the debut.alldatndensum wrote:Pethead wrote:This time we’ve got some melodic metal for y’all.

Siloam for me. They did change a lot over the years (style and lineup) but those first two album were brilliant.

So far, I am in the minority and am the only one standing for Ransom! I always was kind of weird and am still a loner.

I picked Siloam. Their first 2 albums are very good. However I can't stand Lethal Lady - that song drives me up the wall almost as much as a modern pop song.
I had the first 2 Ransom reissued albums and sold them off. Lisa is an awesome singer but something about the song writing didn't do much for me. Also, I don't know what the producer/mixer was thinking when they did the backup vocals for Soul Asylum. They are awful and weird on most of the songs.
