New Megadeth song!

Very good! I like it. Worth the wait!

Listened to it five times already. So good!

Modern Deth (post-UA) kinda leaves me cold except for a song here and there. I do like this new tune, especially the riffs. Probably one of the best I’ve heard from them in a while. Curious to hear the rest of the album!

Yawn. It’s all technical now. They’ve forgotten how to write a hook.

That’s how I felt about most of Endgame and Dystopia. But I did like the main riff in this new song.

Wow, they have hooks in spades on the last few albums and they've always been technical to some degree. This is a great song.

Deth has had good songs on every album. For example, Endgame didn't grab me like it did many others, but Headcrusher is an epic tune. 

I'll buy the new Deth when it comes out. At least this new song is pretty sweet. Even if it wasn't, I'd still buy it. I have to hear Metallica before I buy it. Deth is an automatic buy. 

Confession: I actually liked Super Collider...

Super Collider isn't the best but I do like some of it.

This new song is growing on me.

I've always loved Vic Rattlehead, and I haven't seen an iteration that I didn't like. He's just as awesome on this one! I've been looking for a first tattoo for years, maybe this is it! 

One of my complaints with any band that puts out hundreds of songs is that they all start sounding the same after awhile. I've been listening to this one all weekend, and this morning it hit me, that it sounds like the beginning of The Threat is Real. It's in the same key (granted--most metal songs are), The opening riff is incredibly similar, the tempos are similar (160 vs. 180) and the chord drop into verse 1 is identical.

I remember in the early days how the albums had a distinct sound and the hits were unique yet still Megadeth. I know this is a hotly debated topic: we want new albums to have the same sound as previous ones (because we liked the sound), but we criticize when they're too similar.  I don't know the answer to this b/c Megadeth is favourite secular band, but I can say that one of the reasons I haven't listened to much of their newer stuff is it sounds too cookie cutter.

I agree completely and I still really like their new stuff. But up through the 90s and even partly into the 2000s, every album was unique.

No one can reinvent the wheel, so every band will eventually retread the same ground. All we can ask is that they keep the quality of the songs up to par.

I agree 100% with your first sentence. 

2nd sentence? If a band is simply a business that supplies the consumer with a product, they can put out any music they want as long as it pays the bills. If music is more than that, I'd wager that some listeners (I'd put myself in that category) needs the music to have a soul: to hear inspiration, a renewed message, something fresh, the artist's heart, something along those lines. 

There is nothing wrong with Megadeth's new stuff, it's done awesome, and it's a great lesson. But I do think it's missing that intangible, special ingredient that adds a bit of magic.

United Abominations was the last album that blew me away as an album. But I’ll still buy any new Deth album and I’ll enjoy it.

UA is my second fave by them and third is The System Has Failed.

I love the new one. I'll be honest, Dystopia is my favorite Megadeth album. I think Kiko's leads are liquid dynamite, I saw them in May here and the live show was amazing. They played Conquer or Die and Dystopia live, and those two tunes stand up to anything in their back catalog in my opinion.
I like old Deth, don't get me wrong, but I think Dystopia had some fresh stuff that they'd been lacking since UA.
