Albums that grew on you ...
I think I could list a bunch of many I didn´t like that much at first but they grew on me with time .
Reign in Blood is a classic example for me . Back in 1993 , first time I heard it , I wasn´t really "ready" for that record . I ended up liking half of the disc and dismissing the rest as "noisey" , but now , the only song I DETESTATE is "Jesus Saves" . All other ones I think are wonderful ...

Can think of a few but the most vivid example was "Number Of The Beast."
I started out with the Paul D'ianno albums when Iron Maiden was new to America. When N.O.T.B. first came out I got the cassette and popped it in my player and was initially disappointed. That first song "Invader" was pretty lame and some of the other songs were more commercial than before. Eventually I really liked the album but at first it was a big change that I had to adjust to.
A few others I did not like at first were Icon - Night Of The Crime, Hexx-No Escape, Sepultura - Arise, Watchtower - Energetic Disassembly, and Mercyful Fate - Melissa (I don't listen to M.F. or King Diamond anymore though).
I also hated rap metal during it's heyday but now I like it. Same with black/unblack metal.
One album that I still think is horrible is Black Sabbath - Technical Ecstasy.

Re: Albums that grew on you ...
I did one of those Facebook "20 albums that impacted me" things a year or two ago--basically a desert island list or whatever. 3 of the albums of the 20 were extremely difficult for me initially but ended up as my favorites (by far) by all 3 bands: Deception Ignored by Deathrow, Dimensions by Believer, and Rust in Peace by Megadeth. I was a fan of each band back to its debut album, but didn't enjoy any of these releases for quite a few spins until I gradually opened up to them. Sometimes a great album isn't immediately obvious to me...
