Do you know of any NEW "Old-School" Christian Metal Bands?
I just saw Stryper in Indy---it was amazing... It was sort of a mini-festival... like six bands performed. One of them was Chaotic Resemblance (new to me)... I really liked them---they were "new" but had an old-school vibe. It got me to thinking, "Is there a new crop of bands out there who play Christian metal with a classic vibe?"
So I thought I would lay this question on the community here and see if anything comes of it... a list of bands to check out would be awesome!

You may already be familiar with Eden's Way. They will have a new album out in a couple of months. They have 4 out already.
I am trying to think of something that will tickle your fancy, PB. Sadly, there aren't a lot of new artists trying to do what we would call "old school" metal. Most of what comes out now is prog metal, black metal (or one of the many spinoffs), and hardcore. Even the classic bands save for Stryper seem to be silent. However, Rose and Deliverance are working on new material.
Something you may like, PB, is the new Billy Smiley and John Schlitt band called The Union Of Sinners And Saints. It is the mixup of Petra and Whiteheart literally. Good stuff!

Digging Four Star Revival.... Knew about Letter 7.... couldn't locate Eden's Way... O.M. wasn't quite my cup of tea...
Thanks! If you think of any others--share away!

They also have a Facebook page. If you cannot find that, you can search for Dave Underwood, the lead singer, on there.

While not the hardest, you might want to try Deth Enemy (no, not black metal)

This may not count as "new" but Narnia has just released a new album, their first in 7 years.

I'd say pretty much every Christian metal band is playing an old school sound these days...not many (if any) are keeping up with anything that's happened in metal the past 5 years or so. No Christian sludge or occult metal bands yet that I'm aware of.

Thanks pastorbrad!
Are there any other bands, besides the ones listed here so far, playing that style of music that have emerged in the last 5 years or so? I like Chaotic Resemblance. I think they're more late 80's influenced, where 4SR is more early 80's influenced, if that makes any sense. Good stuff though!

This is a pretty cool song! I'll have to look into more from these guys! Their name can be a little misleading though! Thanks for sharing!

You should check out my brothers project "Nadab", I think his music leans in a similar direction to those genres. You can check out his bandcamp here.

I really like this song for the sound and quality....but the theology.....not so much.

I know God is sovereign and am fully on board with the doctrines of grace ... but sometimes even God speaks in terms of pursuing or wooing his rebellious creatures ...
Matthew 23:37
O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you were not willing!
The OT prophets frequently spoke to the nation of Israel and gave them reasons why they should be faithful to and follow after God ... essentially saying, are these not adequate reasons to put away your idols and return to following the LORD?

Also Ancient Prophecy might fit a bit into that mold (but they have some death vocals in it too) and are heavier (thrash elements).
Same with Divine Retribution (again some death vocals).
Also try S91 (just released a new album a couple days ago). The video below feature's Narnia's singer too.
They might not be exactly what you're looking for, but worth a listen.

Re: Do you know of any NEW "Old-School" Christian Metal Bands?
Pastor Brad, it isn't metal, but I have a blues project out that might interest you. Its a classic ZZ Top/George Thorogood type vibe. I even did a parody of George's "Bad To The Bone" and made it about the birth of Jesus. I called mine "Bound For A Throne". It's rocked out blues. Most of the songs proclaim Jesus, but there are also songs about social ills like child neglect, a Christmas song commemorating the movie "A Christmas Story", and even a song lamenting having to stand in line at Walmart. The album is mostly gospel, but I also wanted to be able to write stories and intertwine those with the message of salvation through Jesus. Others may not agree. However, I feel that I succeeded with the balance I wanted and definitely with the production. While being recorded on 3 and 4 string cigar box guitars, it sure doesn't sound like it! This album sounds huge!
