Post by My Awesome Timothy Thu Aug 04, 2016 8:12 am

Disciple have got their Kickstarter campaign going for their new album due out later on in the year.  I don't understand why they are doing a Kickstarter when their last album funded nearly $120,000 which was 3 times the amount they wanted.  So where has the money gone and why this time do they need $60,000?  The Rose campaign needs just $10,000 but looks like it will struggle to meet the goal, so am not sure why different artists need huge variances in funds?

Also am disappointed and frustrated as living in the UK I can't participate in helping fund the Disciple project as most the perks are USA only apart from digital crap which I won't be doing.  I hope they reach their goal but am frustrated about being alienated from their campaign.

I also think that they are asking for a bit much.  I pledged to get the CD, but that is all.

I'm getting tired of Kickstarter and GoFundMe campaigns.  It feels like everyone has their hand out nowadays especially in the music business.

They've already met their crowd funding goal.  So, if you want to back it, go ahead as you are just pushing them higher and higher.  It will be funded either way.

I was surprised, they said the album was expected in December!

Most bands dont move up the album release 2 months!

But Im not complaining Smile

Got my digital download today, and wow its rockin my socks off!!!!!!!

Guitar guy

I really enjoy the consistent sound on this record, they stick to the similar sound heard on Attack, they vary it up by throwing in songs that sound straight off of Scars Remain!

So far stand out tracks include: Long Live The Rebels, Secret Weapon, Underdog Fight Song, Forever Starts Today, and Blackhole

But, the absolute gem I have found is Come My Way!

The album's last song is the only ballad, but Come My Way starts out slower but kicks up into a really surprisingly catchy heavier song, gotta say its the real standout track so far!

(P.S: Love hearing Josiah sing a bit more as well!)

I love the fact that there are guitar solos on every song except for the ballad.

I'll spare further input on my opinion regarding crowd funding. That ship has sailed. I'll only add that you can add this example to my opinion.

Musically, it's been a long time since I've heard Disciple. I seem to remember something that had more muscle. This is awfully friendly sounding...

It really is great! Last album it feels like they held back when it came to solos.

I thought this was a very successful KickStarter myself and was glad to support them, to me this is a example on why crowdfunding works.

But yes they used to be a heavier sound almost 13 years ago, this sound is what they have been since about 2005

Sadly, some of the fans of the first couple of albums only expected Disciple to grow and shift with trends or personnel changes.  They aren't the 3 high schoolers that first got signed to Rugged Records.  Except for Kevin, they are not the same band anymore.  They have grown lyrically and have figured out a way to still rock while maintaining an audience year after year.  Most rock bands can't do that.

Disciple show at Cornerston '99: 3-man band that was the Best show I've ever seen

Ten years later I catch them at a local metal bar

Disciple '10: 5-man band that was just alright and Kevin sounded like he'd taken a chill pill.

The original style of the band was the best because it was in your face and hard. Still, I like the newer stuff too. Attack didn't grab me that much but I do like the video posted above. It's not really that heavy but the lyrics are still meaningful.

There are a couple songs that sound very much like they could be on Scars Remain and one song in particular could have been on This Might Sting A Little

If your not a fan of ballads there is only one on the whole album

The album is outstanding in my opinion. The lyrics are fantastic and while at first I wasn't sure about how "heavy" it was I'm reminded that's not why I listen to the band. It's definitely a hard rocking album but a super heavy Disciple album isn't that heavy in the first place and the songwriting these days is why the band excels. Super happy with this. Excited to get my shirt and album in a bit but have been listening to the album daily since getting the advanced copy. An extremely successful Kickstarter in my opinion.
