Despite all the sexually charged lyrics my favorite has always been "Slide it In".

Love Whitesnake ...even the last two ..I have been a fan for years and its really a hard call for me because I love them all.. I went with Slide It In..I have both the UK and The American Versions of the album...

Not because I dont like them, because theres a max of 10 options for pollsSavage Amusement wrote:Why?I left off the their two newest of course
So being a newer fan, a guy who doesnt own any of their albums, which should I go for first? Which is their best musically? (and being a guy who cares about lyrics) Which has the cleanest lyrics?

Half of these I haven't listened to, so I'm not voting, but I'm sure it's hard to top the John Sykes years.

Tough call, but I opted for Slip of the Tongue. I just listened to it about 5 days ago.

hard call..95% of their songs are about partying and sex...Even the old videos are pretty explicit for someone concerned about that kinda thing.. I would say maybe "Forever more"..of course the older albums are their best ones...especially Saints & Sinners, Slide It In and 1987 s/t

Re: Best Whitesnake Album
I had never heard of them until 1987 when their self titled album came out. MTV played their videos a lot as did local radio. That album made me a fan at the time. I had a lot of their earlier albums and liked them, but I liked their "Slide It In", "Whitesnake, and "Slip of the Tongue" albums the most.

For me, it's gotta be the S/T with Slide It In a close second. They're not the same band without John Sykes. When he left to form Blue Murder, I went with him and haven't listened to Whitesnake since. His guitar work was what appealed to me.

I just picked up the Whitesnake album Live in '84:Back To The Bone cd/dvd...you should check that out if you like sykes..He shreds on that album...Also look for his work with Thin Lizzy and Tygers of Pan Tang..

^^ I saw Sykes with Thin Lizzy in '04 at Starplex (I'll bet you've been there a few times). They sounded great.

Lyrical content aside....Slide it in. But all the ones up to this point are classics to me.

Re: Best Whitesnake Album
I much prefer the UK version of this album.
They were a much better band to me before the switch in styles to a more American 80's sound. Of course, most of the world disagreed with me because they became huge after this album.
