"Hyde Under Pressure" drumming questions
Can anyone confirm that this is real studio drumming with no effects? Is there any way to tell the BPM when he playing near the end?

Re: "Hyde Under Pressure" drumming questions
I have another question, will there be a tribute to Chris Hyde. I seems like he did a lot for Christian Metal with his work with Vengeance and Deliverance and other projects he did. I have the early Deliverance CDs he played on. I was fortunate to receive a signed postcard that he and the other members signed when I ordered the reissue of Stay of Execution a couple of years ago.
That recording seems like it is studio drumming that may of had multiple drum tracks to fill out the sound. I am no recording expert. I'm basing this on the drum sound being similar to the Weapons of Our Warefare album which likely had multiple drum tracks.

I just realized this should be an Austrian Death Machine interlude. Carry on.
Re: "Hyde Under Pressure" drumming questions
It sounds like it could be him really drumming like that.

I didn't put a metranome to it, but it's somewhere around 250 bpm.

I'm not a drummer or a musician, but I do play a mean stereo!
I'm guessing a drummer, even a good one, would not be able to keep up that pace for long, am I right?

Oh, BTW, the reason I don't like Dream Theater now it's because Mike Mangini it's TOO robotic, if it weren't because you see him perfoming on the YT videos you would say it's a drum machine playing

That last video was embarrasing to watch because of the girls. All looks, no brain...

I always figured he is just replaying the drums that Petrucci programs when he writes the songs, but, yeah snoozefest. I haven't bought the past two Dream theaters and I'm a big prog metal guy.Darth Vader wrote:Oh, BTW, the reason I don't like Dream Theater now it's because Mike Mangini it's TOO robotic, if it weren't because you see him perfoming on the YT videos you would say it's a drum machine playing

there are many drummers that can play that speed for long periods at the time this came out it was pretty impressive nowdays though there are walking terminating machines out there.New Creation wrote:metaldude wrote:I didn't put a metranome to it, but it's somewhere around 250 bpm.
