Jekyll & Hyde ...Petra
I was listening to this album online today and must say this is a fantastic album...definitely their heaviest...Here is a cool fact about this record...
Jekyll and Hyde is produced by Newsboy's frontman and Inpop Records co-owner, Peter Furler. In addition to his role as producer, Furler adds his signature drumming to this collection of straight-ahead rock tracks. ...what does everyone else think of this album...

Almost all my favorite Petra material is from the John Schlitt era and this is probably one of my favorite albums from them. Definitely liked the heavier edge on it.

It's pretty good yeah. I'm a moderate Petra fan, but I like many of their eras. Unseen Power has some great heavy songs too, but I agree this album is the heaviest.

This is the only Petra album I can listen to without skipping a song. My favorite from them.

Overrated IMO. I liked it, and the rhythm guitars certainly were pretty hard-edged, but the more modern production and lack of any guitar solos really hurt this one IMO. When I want Petra, this is never the album I pull out. I'm much more likely to go back to the 1983-1994 time period.

I'm with FoJ on the lack of guitar solos. Add a solo to each song and a pretty good 30 minute album becomes a great 40 minute album to rival Beyond Belief (my favorite).

I prefer all albums from "This means war" to "Wake-up call" over this one, but it's quite good.
My favorites are On Fire! and Beyond Belief. I regard "On Fire!" as Petra's heaviest album by the way.

This album is awesome! I can't say that it is their best as it is so different from the others. I remember that I almost put Petra on the shelf after Revival Album. Then, this album came out and I was blown away by then one more time. Unfortunately, it was their last brand new album.
Regarding the album itself, it is their heavier, undoubtedly. The lyrics are great as we always expect while listening to Petra and yes, I missed guitar solos, but it was never Petra's strongest point, anyway. My favorites tracks are Sacred Trust, Till Everything I do and Life as we know it.

Re: Jekyll & Hyde ...Petra
very good Petra record.
How can i word this, "Jekyll" is very heavy with a modern guitar sound. "On Fire" has more of a metal bite to it(+ solos) but the production is not as beefy. Make sense?
I enjoy "Jekyll" it's worth tracking down if you never bought it.
here's some of my favorite cuts from "on fire"

Jekyll and Hyde isn't my favorite Petra album. I haven't listened to it in a while but I think the second half is better than the first half. On the first side the title track and another song stands out to me. I would prefer it if the songs wer elonger with more pronounced solos. My favorite albums from Petra are most of them from 1981 to 1993 - from Never Say Die to Wake-Up Call.

Re: Jekyll & Hyde ...Petra
The Schlitt era is my favorite material. This album was a great album that just needed guitar solos to probably be labelled as many metalheads' favorite Petra disc. If they could redo it and add solos, I'd definitely snag the updated version.
"Beyond Belief" and "Unseen Power" are my absolute favorite Petra albums, though.
