Heaven's Metal returning
So, there has been chatter lately on Facebook from Doug Van Pelt about the idea of restarting Heaven's Metal (not to be confused with HM). The idea is that it will be an online and possibly print thing.
What do you think? Could he pull it off again? Is the market still receptive to a metal mag?

YES! Make sure there is a section or at least SOME dedication to extreme Christian metal and I will subscribe likely for the rest of my life!!!

With the metal scene the way it is, I would guess that most of it would be extreme metal. If that's all that there was, then I would not really be interested.

I'd love it! I still followed the newest version of the mag online, and the last issue was done in June of 2015, so yes, bring it on!!!

I have mixed feelings about this. While I liked Heaven's Metal back in it's heyday, and I subscribed to the Heaven's Metal fanzine later on, I found that the fanzine was a lot of times saying stuff I already knew about from reading stuff on CMR or elsewhere on the internet.

Yeah, I've not been really sure about how I feel about it either. Back in its day, it was really the only source I had for news, but now thanks to social media I can get the news directly from the source. So really, isn't it just going to be another source for album reviews and interviews? I just don't see myself paying for that.

Yup, me too. I too read the updated fanzine a few years back and I already knew almost everything I was reading. Nostalgia wants me to have this magazine again because I loved it back in the day. But I loved it because there was no internet to get info from, so Heaven's Metal was my only way of knowing that Saint was working on a new album, or that Rex was leaving Whitecross, stuff like that. Now that's kind of news is everywhere on the internet.

There's something about having a printed copy in your hands but if it's all extreme stuff I'm not interested

Re: Heaven's Metal returning
Heaven's Metal will be successful if they balance the current/modern hard rock/metal and the traditional/classic hard rock/metal. It may be better of HM focus on the modern/extreme hard rock amd metal music and have Heaven's Metal focus on the traditional/classic/veteran sounding hard rock and metal music.
Also, they should sick to information not readily available on the internet like indepth interviews, what's going on in musicians lives individually and as bands, etc. Back in the old days when the internet was not available for consumers or was not as available the magazines thrived and was not concerned with having outdated news. These days magazines have to innovative and different. I used to subscribe to Heaven's Metal and one of my favorite editions was the one with the bluish tine with Ken Tamplin on the front cover when he had the Tamplin Cd in the fall of 1993 out and there was a long interview of all the hard work he put into making that album. The indepth interviews like that is what the magazine needs. I also like the what the So and So says. it gave you the prespective on secular bands.

I like this idea! If I were Heaven's Metal, you'd so be hired!
I would also add album reviews. I bought several bands' demos from back in the day just because of the review they gave. I sold a few of my own that way, too. I actually first met Ultmetal way back then.
