But it's clear that Voddie has read some unsavory source material for this, which I really respect.

"Dominion: The Nature of Diabolic Warfare" by Fr. Chad Ripperger
&
"Jewish Magic and Superstition: A Study in Folk Religion" by Joshua Trachtenberg
I have a tendency to switch back-and-forth between books a lot. I put down a book about St. Bernadette halfway through to read another book about Christian Mysticism by Evelyn Underhill, which I put down for Fr. Ripperger's book, and then put his down to read Jewish Magic and....
Oy Vey.
I'm also waiting for a new one to arrive tomorrow, which is (what I hear) a textbook on Hasidism. Looking forward to that.
I read a little here and there, sporadically, but the Bible I try to always read in the morning, without fail.

Re: Currently reading?
I looked into Theonomy (what seems now like) ages ago. It tends to be something running mostly in Reformed circles, if I recall correctly, or unless that's changed since I first investigated it (cir. 2013).Kerrick wrote:Ha, we'll see. It's a concept I'd like to more fully understand so I can discern where I stand on the matter. While I don't think any of our session are theonomists, a handful of our members are and I think this book was chosen for this current men's book study to get some of those guys to join haha. I just read the first chapter which was about the relation of guilt and "masochism" (in the sense of punishing oneself to obtain atonement) for the non-Christian, so I'm not sure how much we'll get into the topic of theonomy.
Myself though, I think I'd be rather down with the overall concept. My own perspective probably would allow for it, and I think it's a good effort in balancing Law + Gospel in a rational way, without going full Hebrew Roots. Not saying I'm opposed to HR either, just for sake of discussion.
Will have to do a basic overview of it again, and see from there. But as I understand your comment, the book your reading might have not that much to do at all with Theonomy, making this reply moot from the start.
(I love the emojis here btw.)
