Indian Food
I'm not talking about Native American, but Indian. From India.
Does anyone else like Indian food?
I had never tried it all during growing up. But a few years ago I gave it a chance. I thought it was pretty good, but not that good. Anyway ... I decided to try it again recently - and I must say ... Indian food can be VERY VERY GOOD!
I think it depends on the restaurant like with anything. If you go to the wrong one - it's easy to dismiss it as not good. But wow, we have a few restaurants here in Utah that are phenominal!!!
Anyone?

Re: Indian Food
I've never tried Indian cuisine. I have had some African food at an upscale hotel at Disneyworld. I cannot remember what the dishes I had were called.
Re: Indian Food
Ethiopian food is a little bit like indian food but not so many spices They have this delicious red pepper, lentils, awesome sauces, the bread that that tastes a bit sour and it mostly it is a bit oily or fatty. but it's so good!
Re: Indian Food
My best friend is Indian. He occasionally makes traditional stuff as do his parents when we are over there. Most of it is pretty good. His wedding was steeped in Indian tradition and food, lots of stiff I had never had and didn't know what I was eating. It's not my favorite but I like it better than some other authentic foreign traditional foods. I've only been to two Indian restaurants, one here and another in Aruba, so the vast majority of my experience is from people who grew up there. I'd imagine there are regional differences as well.

Re: Indian Food
I've tried it a few times and it seemed to be hit or miss for me (some was really good, some awful), but it's hard to tell if it has been prepared well or not. I'm not a big fan of cumin and it seems to be used a lot in Indian cuisine.

Yes. I live in the US. I went to India in 2006 with a ministry called Karma to Grace. It's purpose is to foster open dialog between Christians and Hindus with the hopes that it introduces Hindus to Jesus. It also helps to equip Christians with information about Hinduism so that they can intelligently converse with their Indian neighbors and co-workers.
The trip was a real eye opener. On returning I recall feeling like there is no "true" poverty in the US. I also recall thinking, Wow, this country is so empty of people. In the cities especially, India is wall to wall people.
Not my pictures, but these are pretty typical scenes in a big city in India. I think these are from Calcutta (Kolkota).

I really like Indian food. Paneer is my favourite as well as butter chicken.
Pretty sad pictures you posted above. Really makes a guy think.

Paneer? Butter chicken? Tikka Masala?
You're all lame. Get some spice in it.
Generally I like jalfrezi and dhansak, you can get Indian food pretty much anywhere in the UK - there's at least three curry houses within ten minutes walk of my apartment. Saying that, my hometown has the best Indian restaurant I've been to.
If you don't like cumin though, you're pretty screwed.
