This is pop?  I hardly think of pop music when I think of Megadeth.  Pop music is much more like the insipid One Direction, Beiber, Lady BlahBlah, etc.

Not pop, but heavy pop. Think of it as Megadeth with Desmond Child as one of the composers. The opening of the title track has that type of feeling, which sounds fantastic to me. Mustaine has always been great composing that type of stuff. Lots of influence from Iron Maiden and "poppier" stuff what Desmond Child used to contribute to many "pop rock" "hard rock" bands in the 80's.

I mean, sure that song has a pure thrash ending and is heavy all around, but the opening reminds me more of Don Henley's Boys of Summer in it's tone and feeling than a thrash song. And that's absolutely great!

I liked it, I've really enjoyed Dave's modern Megadeth material. I'll agree that it's not thrash, but I wouldn't call it pop either. My favorite track is The Emperor, the shred is real on that one.

Went to my friend's house again this morning just to listen to this album again. This is WAY WAY better than any of the recent releases of them and metallica together

This is one of my favs on the album, too. Great stuff. Post American World rocks as well.

I bought and listened to the entire album today. It's pretty good. I don't like it as much as Endgame, but it'll probably grow on me over time.

Poisonous Shadows is my favorite song. I like it when they slow things down and add keyboards. Most thrash fans probably hate that...but I'm not a thrash fan.

Does Dystopia (title track) make anyone nostalgic of the 90s? The entire intro reminds me of Streets Of Rage. I spent so many hours of my life on that game lol.

Really? I think there is a lot of original sounds on this album. It still has to sound Megadeth tho.

I think this one is just as good as Endgame in many ways. Very thrashy and technical....but melodic as well.

Does anyone else really like Conquer or Die? It's such a neat instrumental track. I also really liked Endgame's intro, Dialectic Chaos, which this reminds me of. It would be neat if Mustaine did an entirely instrumental album like this, just not under the Megadeth name.

I think it's a great album. As my avatar indicates, I'm a huge Megadeth fan, but I really like the effort put forth on this album. Very solid. While I need to listen to it several more times, of all 15 albums in their library, I'll probably rank Dystopia around 7th or 8th.

Hey, RobbVII, where in Michigan do you live? I lived in MI for many years (Lowell, Grand Rapids, Muskegon).

I thought it was good. I'll start liking it more as I listen to it more and really get to know the songs. I doubt it'll beat Endgame though. Endgame is my favorite Megadeth album...and my favorite thrash album.

I live between Alma and Saginaw. A couple miles south of M-46.

I cant wait to hear the new one, but i hope it ranks higher for me than Endgame did. Its not one of my favorites.

I would love to tell you what I think of the new Megadeth, but my pre-order has not arrived yet. *sigh* I has many sads. Though I will tell you that I like the three tracks that I've heard so far and am very excited to hear the rest of it.

It's a badass record. Great stuff, the production sounds great, all the riffs come through the mix and are heavy as all get out.  The drums are great too, lately Deths albums have had some pretty bland drum work, not another time.

Good album yeah. Not quite Endgame level but it's one of his better albums since Rust in Peace.

I've listened to it about 15 times through. I definitely like it better than Endgame. Production is definitely better than EG. Drums & guitar, I like better also. This album has a chemistry to it that just speaks to me.

I've heard every Megadeth album besides "13" and I have to say this new one is up there. Definitely the best thing since "Endgame", if not better. The addition of Chris Alder on drums really did wonders for it I think.

I'm glad I didn't waste money on this one.

I wanted a return to form like THSF or Endgame (not even asking for anything as amazing as their first 4 releases) and this band is capable of much more than what we got.
