Name a Christian band that you are not sure how to pronounce.
Oh there are so many.
But for starters I will just name one that I've had doubts about
and give the correct pronunciation.
Xinr was a short lived Christian band from the northwest US.
They were just about to hit it big when 2 of their members died tragically on a motorcycle.

I wasn't sure how to say Xinr. Was is Zinner or was it X-inner? Come to find out, it is pronounced ex-sinner just like the more famous Christian band of the same era called X-Sinner.
FYI, Xinr was started in 1984, X-Sinner was started in 1988.
Your turn, name a band that is often mispronounced.

Re: Name a Christian band that you are not sure how to pronounce
interesting
Paramaecium is spelled so close to the microscopic organism that I just say "para-mee-see-um", but is that correct? Should it be "para-may-see-um"? I dunno.

Actually X-Sinner began playing at their home church, Set Free Ministries in Corona, Calif. before 1988oldschooldoom wrote:FYI, Xinr was started in 1984, X-Sinner was started in 1988
I have a live recording of them playing at Fairmont Park in Riverside with Redeemer & Towne Cryer from the summer of 1987. (Made it myself)
As for the thread question, "Uthanda" comes to mind.

Slechtvalk is Dutch for "Peregrine" as in the Peregrine Falcon. I found a site that has an audio pronunciation of the word.
http://en.dicios.com/nlen/slechtvalk
On a unrelated note alldat, changing your avatar from one of your homemade guitars to your (or someone else's) naked bottom painted as a pumpkin is very unappealing visually, to say the least.
Sorry, but if I wanted to see naked obese people, I'd watch TLC.

Not a Christian band (though I understand some members were involved with Christian projects) but I had no idea for the longest time how to pronounce Eluveitie until I heard a band member pronounce it themselves.
Most people don't know how to pronouce the project name "Hguols".
Most people have some variation of "huh-gools" or "aych-gowls". Its actually pronounced "Fulse (rhymes with Pulse)". Being that Hguols is the word Slough backwards, and the term Slough meaning to "shed as skin" is pronounced like "sluff", it makes perfect logical sense to also pronounce Slough backwards.

What gets me is when band names on a CD are like the band аркона - then I've got to look up English letters to butcher the phonetics. (аркона is Arkona by the way - still don't know if that's Ark-ah-nah or Ark-oh-nah. I tend to pronounce it the latter one.)

Paramaecium - Para (as in 'paralegal' with a hard first 'a') mecium (the 'e' sounds like the 'a' in 'fast')

Not sure how to pronounce Mashiaj. I have been saying "Mash-eye-adge". I think it means Messiah in English

This is a little embarrassing, but I'm unsure how you pronounce Veni Domine.

You have to be Dutch to pronounce that correctly! hahaha
The pronunciation of the CH in SleCHtvalk is like clearing your throat just before spitting ( i know, that's lame )
How about Pÿlon, from Switserland?

Also, I probably butcher "Borgazur."

What about Frosthardr? I have no clue how you say that.
Also, Vardøger. I don't know how to say it but I assume that Norwegians do.

I always forget the proper way to say it shortly after I'm corrected by my Latin speaking Romanian friends.

Re: Name a Christian band that you are not sure how to pronounce
I know it is pretty elementar, but I have been curious for a long time and it looks a proper situation to ask:
Gardian has changed their name to guardian. Does the letter "u" make any difference in pronuciation?

When I saw Antestor at Cornerstone Festival 1999, Ronny was the vocalist, who was also vocals for Vaakevandring.
Vok-eh-vawn-dring - phonetically similar to its English definition, "Walk and Wandering"
