Any Sabaton fans?
I just picked up their "Heroes" album and while the vocals took some time to get used to, overall its pretty good power metal with historical lyrics. They do have some very memorable choruses if anything:

They are a good band. In fact, they are one of the few power metal bands i can tollerate. Love the vocals, they sound manly and not cheesy like most power bands do. Heroes is without any doubt one of their best albums. Check out Primo Victoria, and the art of war too.

Sorry to chime in so late, but just listened to my first full Sabaton album, Coat of Arms, and have to say it was good. Very good. Need to listen to more of their stuff, but this album jumped up to near the top of my "cd want list" after only 1 spin.

I used to like them a lot but I lost interest after The Art of War. They all begin to sound the same. They need a little bit more variety. I love the lyrical approach, though. The title track of Attero Dominatus is awesome. Ghost Division and Metal Crue vie for the top spot in my list of favorite songs.

Re: Any Sabaton fans?
I really like Sabaton. Although my musical taste has become more refined over the years, Sabaton belongs to my personal first wave of (power) metal bands. Since I saw them live in the beginning of 2009, I felt sorry afterwards for coming in the middle of their show and not earlier (they were supporting Hammerfall back then).
Anyway, almost all of their military history themed albums are good, if you like some poppy power metal. The Art of War is my favourite, the concept really worked. The only album I don't like is Carolus Rex, sympho power metal just isn't Sabaton's style.
I will pick up their new album next month by the way

I enjoy Sabaton, and have all their albums. :-) Even though I'm not a great student of historical wars, they do it all very well, and are irresistibly catchy.

So, I bought the new album. First 1,5 listen gave me a very good impression (which I frankly didn't expect). Will report more later

Did you guys see that Tommy Johansson (of Golden Resurrection, ReinXeed, etc.) is now in the band?

Yes, I read that It led me to the cynical thought that with him in the band, they might finally try something like Carolus Rex without the album being boring
Anyway, I hope Tommy won't get bored. Sabaton's music isn't exactly complex, and although I'm not a fan of Tommy (I rarely find "guitar heroes" exceptional), he surely knows how to play the guitar.

Listened to the nrew album. Found it a bit boring to be honest. I'm not really sure why, 'Heroes' grabbed me from the first note and I loved it but found this one just a bit dull.
Will give it more of a chance though

^Just speaking for myself, but the more I listen to it, the more I like it. The songs really develop an own identity, the (sometimes big) resemblances with their other songs move to the background.

Anyone hear the new album, The Great War? Standout songs imo are The Red Baron and The Fields of Verdun and overall it's a solid album.

Re: Any Sabaton fans?
It's a pretty amazing album IMO. Reading my earlier comments in this thread I can't really understand myself, because TLS had some great songs but is actually a pretty inconsistent listen. This new one on the other hand flows pretty nicely, something that isn't always a given with Sabaton. Plus the subject matter is pretty good.

Re: Any Sabaton fans?
Sparta is a fantastic opener. But after that one, my second favorite song from that album is Camouflage. And when a bonus cover song is among my favorites, it says something about my perception of the rest of the album.
It's still a very enjoyable listen though.
