Video Game Metal?
What's the most rocking music you have ever heard in a game? I'm just going to cheat because it's my thread and leave this here.

Sonic Adventure for Dreamcast had a couple of pretty rocking songs that might be my very earliest memories of enjoying rock/metal music. I've since learned that Crush 40 was little more than Sega's house band for that soundtrack and a few others, but vocalist Johnny Gioleli has been with Axel Rudi Pell since 1998.

You kind of blew me away there. A lot of action Capcom games had great soundtracks.
There was an old fighting game called Star Gladiator. The best part about it is that you could play its OST/soundtrack in a CD player. (track 1 was the data, the rest were the songs) I ended up learning to play this one on guitar.
Wait for it...
Also, one of the greatest games of all time had some of the best in-game symphonic metal. Castlevania Symphony of the Night.
...and to toot my own horn, when I did my project Hguols, (which is experimental electronica symphonic postblackmetal I still don't know what it is) I did some video game covers, one of Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver I and II main themes. If you haven't heard the original songs, you may not "get it". If you have, you might cheese a little.
You'd be more likely to appreciate this one having never heard the songs.
This Hguols attempt is, again, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night - where I did a "symphonic extreme metal" version of the Requiem of the Gods (the chapel) and Final Toccata (inverted castle) tracks from the game's original soundtrack.
