Barnabas ... any guess on who the company is that is releasing the reissues?
Nancy Jo said that she decided not to go with Retroactive Records for reissuing the Barnabas catalog, then several days later she announces that the whole catalog will be reissued by someone else ..... Any one know who the company is? Or want to guess?

Obviously no one has explained to her about the caps lock button. Either that, or she is really excited about this.
That being said, have no clue. Like a lot of artist, they are probably doing it themselves.

Deathisgain,
Nancy had brain damage from a fall(?) she took some years ago, it's been a long road to recovery. She is also hyper sensitive to light now. She's trying, but it is still hard for her.

Well then, I apologize for that statement.

I don't blame her for dropping Retroactive. Matt had said he was going to reissue their catalog every year for the last 6+ years and it just doesn't seem to be happening. I hope whatever label she goes with does the material justice.

I think Matt has his hands full with the church he pastors

The real problem is just that re-issues aren't selling as well as they used to, especially physical copies. There is no way you are going to be able to release a re-issue per month and sell that many. I don't blame Retroactive for getting out of this one, as much as I would like to see it happen with them.

All the better reason for Nancy to go with someone else. It has been obvious that something was keeping Matt's hands tied as the label hasn't issued nearly the music it was just 5 years ago. I can't think of a better thing to be taking up his time than a church congregation (or than possibly immediate family).

Re: Barnabas ... any guess on who the company is that is releasing the reissues?
From talks I have had with Matt in the past, my guess is that there really isn't the money in it for him. I think he has to press a 1,000 to make it worth his while, and if those don't sell, he's losing money. I am sure there are cheaper alternatives, but they are probably that: cheap. The sources are drying up for this kind of stuff. Most of the big albums from the past, need lots of cash to buy them from the labels, and every thing else is probably small potatoes.
Re: Barnabas ... any guess on who the company is that is releasing the reissues?
To grandeped, 'Exactly'. I had approached them at one time, but as much as I love Barnabas I think Matt was wise to let the band do this one themselves. Having said that, I am personally looking forward to them. I am one of those few that still buys CD and physical product

Grandeped, deathisgain...
I am sure that the lackluster sales of reissues was a factor too...
I will say that I talked to Matt after the announcement from Nancy Jo and one of the things that Matt said was that he really had a lot of things going on that was taking time away from his label.

I have the last round of reissues and probably won't buy another set. I like Barnabas, but they aren't a favorite of mine.

I have the M8 of ALS....but I may upgrade that as the M8 reissue has its limitations.
Like you, I like them but they are not a favorite of mine. I don't know when the last time I played ALS was.
Not sure of how many others I would buy..maybe Little Foxes.
One thing to keep in mind, these releases will be here today and gone tomorrow. Very limited...I am sure. So maybe picking them all up, even as an investment, might not be bad?

I need to hear a few samplers, before decide if it worth getting it or not. Despite the fact that I only own Approaching Light Speed, I must consider how expense is for me to import cds nowadays. I hope they release it online, so it would be easier for me to buy the albums.

I hope they offer it digitally. Anyone relying on CD sales these days is doomed to failure. I won't buy CDs anymore. I don't have the room to keep storing them. If you don't release it digitally, you've lost my money (and others I'm sure).

I purchase very few cds myself (for the same reason).

I've been told it's an independent source. That's all I can say.

I do always preferentially buy CDs. I recognize I'm quickly becoming the minority though. I've said for years that with digital technology no album should ever be "out of print" unless the copyright holder wants it out of print.

Re: Barnabas ... any guess on who the company is that is releasing the reissues?
I still prefer CDs. Most digital formats are compressed formats like mp3, and once those get overthrown by the next format, you probably won't be able to upconvert without it sounding horrible. If FLAC would catch on, that would be a competitor - if they would include digital booklets. But paying $10-15 for a compressed audio format and no booklet? That's a rip-off.

Re: Barnabas ... any guess on who the company is that is releasing the reissues?
There won't be a real digital format for sale. I think that once the labels can sue their way into streaming and get us all paying into that pool that this is where we are headed. You will simply rent the music you want to hear but never own it.
Re: Barnabas ... any guess on who the company is that is releasing the reissues?
Luckily for me, there is very little music that comes out anymore that I want to own. The new releases I still buy are usually only ones involving bands or musicians from the 70s/80s.
By being stuck in the 70s/80s, most of what I want to buy has already been put out on CD
