I like sherlocks more. I got the alternative cover but used to have Jasons cover art on tape years back. I like Jasons because he was in the band and did their covers whilst he was in the band and gave them a certain look a bit like Iron Maiden or cannibal corpse it gave Mortification a Personality a presence and visual representation that was uniquely Mortification. Plus it just looks way cooler to me cheers.

No idea on the value, but I like the first one way better, no idea who made which one...

I like the top one (Nuclear Blast version) better.  I had the Intense Records (bottom) one, but I ruined that cassette so I replaced it with the Nuclear Blast CD.

Funny story: the CD insert talks about the cover art and the "Trinity on the Throne" and the "hand at the bottom."  It completely confused my friend who also bought the Nuclear Blast version but wasn't familiar with the Intense version.

I have no idea about the collectors value of either, but I buy music for the music.  How much it will be "worth" someday is a very distant second.

I thought he did BOTH covers...?

I have the Intense one on cd, the Nuclear Blast one on tape....in my way of thinking I'd want the Nuclear Blast one on cd as it seems to be slightly more rare (?)

They certainly both have the same vibe.  The Intense one looks more like a traditional death metal cover (a little cheesy, random symbolism and not-quite-right perspective), the Nuclear Blast one is cleaner and more professional, but less spooky.

Jayson only did the second (original / Intense Records) version.
Nuclear Blast replaced it with an alternative cover by an unknown artist.

I really like both: Mr. Sherlock did a great job with all three first Mortification album covers. The NB version is a very cool post-apocalyptic painting. It looks like it has some deeper meaning but I don't think it's connected to any lyrical content of the album.

Look how the sky is painted the rocks the unkown artist has the same style as Jayson or at least similar... I think for the Nb version the sky should be a tad darker more doom looking...the crimson sky for me looks out of place. And thanks for reminding me he has a Y in his name cheers.

I own both versions.  I prefer the original cover art, but, the second pressing is not too shabby.  I doubt that one is financially worth more than the other, as I have seen them both auction/sell for roughly the same amount.
