Admittedly I haven't heard the Wintersoul album.

For my money, nothing I've heard touches Crimson Moonlight -- Veil of Remembrance

Maybe Slechtvalk -- A Forlorn Throne *if* it's considered "Christian" would be about the next closest for me.

Of Candlemass's choices, I'd take Antestor -- Forsaken.

Wintersoul?? Seriously??
I mean it's ok I guess, but the classics are way better. Nothing all that great has happened since like 2005 imo. Probably Helig Usvart by Horde. Yeah nothing touches that Smile

ah ok. Maybe I should listen to that more. I love Marduk, especially their last 4 albums. They are one of the best black metal bands imo...

Extol - Self titled from 2013 easily the best to me

2nd place would be Undeceived

3rd place would be Living Sacrifice's "Reborn" though I know it gets hated on

Divinefire isnt extreme metal, I would call them power metal. As far as Wintersoul goes I thought the album was good but it just didnt stand out to me alot.

For me I LOVE the New Thy Bleeding Skies album I also would put up there Frost Like Ashes, Wintersoul, Katumus, The Autumn League and Antestor. Slechtvalk is a Christian band but they kinda fit into that category of non ministry oriented.

But you can't go wrong with Frosthardr, Arvinger, Sacrificium, and Living Sacrifice - Ghost Thief.

I always thought they were cause they have growls mixed with clean vocals, but maybe there is another definition for that.

These older classics are hard to beat:
Extol - Undeceived
Crimson Moonlight - Veil of Remembrance
Antestor - The Forsaken

I still go back to them often.
