Who was this Deliverance drummer?
When Deliverance covered On the Fritz by Steve Taylor on the I Predict a Clone tribute, the drummer was credited as Yoda. Does anyone know who this is?

Knows, no one does. A mystery this is.

The drummer on that song, am I. It was a drum machine not. Able to use the force to play the drums, I was.

I did not know that this even existed. I thought I knew anything Deliverance has released.
I will search this album.

I asked JPB2 this question about 10 years ago, and he confirmed that it was a drum machine that they nicknamed "Yoda" because of the model number.

It is also available on the 2007 re-issue of "River Disturbance"Thiago-Brazil wrote:Adam wrote:When Deliverance covered On the Fritz by Steve Taylor on the I Predict a Clone tribute, the drummer was credited as Yoda. Does anyone know who this is?

I've been a Deliverance fan since California Metal. I listened to about 20 seconds of that and turned it off. I hope I can forget I heard it.

Oh, so I got this. But I probably can't remember because, you know, RIver Disturbance was not memorable...bodachi wrote:It is also available on the 2007 re-issue of "River Disturbance"Thiago-Brazil wrote:Adam wrote:When Deliverance covered On the Fritz by Steve Taylor on the I Predict a Clone tribute, the drummer was credited as Yoda. "Not memorable"? It's probably my favorite D album, along with Camelot.

Re: Who was this Deliverance drummer?
Sorry, but I can't see eye toeye with you. I could not hear it more than a couple of times. Camelot is good, however is also below average, if you take a look at the entire Deliverance catalog.Neal Morse Code wrote:"Not memorable"? It's probably my favorite D album, along with Camelot.
I guess River Disturbance is my least favorite album by D. Even Assimilation sounded better. Jimmy says in the rerelease that River Disturbance had the band's worse sales performance up to that time and the critics did not receive it well.
It is ok if you like it, but you probably do it due to your taste for progressive sound (I'm guessing by your nickname), but it wasn't what Deliverance fans expected.

Re: Who was this Deliverance drummer?
It's basically the same song by Steve Taylor with less new wave. Ironically, my favorite version of this song is the grunged-out one that Steve did in 'Liver'.

Re: Who was this Deliverance drummer?
I feel like folks are missing the point of the song. It's not a metal song. It's a metal band covering a new wave (and slightly techno) song. It's going to sound a bit odd.

Steve Taylor's strength was always lyrics, he was good maybe despite the music at times. Listen to the original, then listen to the Deliverance version. Musically the D version is a huge improvement. The guitar solo replacing the spoken word part alone makes it a huge step up (just like the re-record of What a Joke was improved in the same way).
