Re: Martyr
I've got their first two eps or demos. I used to wear them out. There weren't many heavy bands at that time.

Re: Martyr
I am a huge Martyr (and Betrayal) fan.
I have most of their demos on tape and love their
Celtic Frost - Slayer approach. They are my most favourite christian band beside
Bloodgood and Vengeance rising.

Re: Martyr
My first experience with Martyr was an afternoon in Hollywood that I only vaguely remember. I went the the Oasis Christian cafe and the band showed up in the late afternoon, set up, and played a set. After, I talked to them and one of them, I think David, gave me a hand written 2 song demo with Frantic and Plead the Blood. I played it to warblyness and still have it.
My second experience was when I played a show with them a couple of years later when they were Martyr 2.0. That's the group that was on the Wickenstraught cover. The Summer of that year we when on tour with them up the Pacific Northwest. Man, they were a fun band!
I saw Betrayal at least once. At the Whisky I think.
What I wonder is what ever happened to Marcus Colon. He seems to have dropped off the face of the earth after year 2000. I like his music and wonder if he's still writing.

Re: Martyr
I was a massive Betrayal fan, in particular Renaissance by Death, and so when I heard about "pre-Betrayal" I was pretty interested. I thought I struck gold when I found Wickenstraut at a used cd shop. . . but thought it was WAY below Betrayal and traded it off pretty quickly. Major disappointment to me, personally.

Re: Martyr
Yeah, Wickenstraut is mostly Martyr 2.0 with the Martye 1.0 demos tacked on the end. I'm fond of it all mostly because of the time I spent with them on tour.Grindboy wrote:I was a massive Betrayal fan, in particular Renaissance by Death, and so when I heard about "pre-Betrayal" I was pretty interested. Re: Martyr
Just listening to this for the first time today.
This is by far some of the best Christian thrash I have ever heard.
I don't understand why more folks don't talk about this.
