IndieWire reports that director Jonathan Demme has passed away at the age of 73 due to esophageal cancer and complications from heart disease. He was treated for the condition in 2010 but it resurfaced in 2015 and got worse in recent weeks. He is survived by his wife, Joanne Howard, and their three children.

Demme is a critically acclaimed director who won the Academy Award in 1991 for The Silence of the Lambs

Not sure if he is "high profile", but last night Col. Bruce Hampton passed away at a concert for his 70th birthday. I had never heard of him, till a guy I worked with told me about him. He's considered one of the fathers of the whole jam band experience. He's a local legend. A lot of big names were at the event as well. His first band "Hampton Grease Band" was once considered the second worse selling album on Columbia's history. After a yoga album. I wasn't really a big fan, as some of his music was just strange.

Man, this one really suckered punched me this morning. Chris Cornell had to be one of the best voices out there. No one will replace him.

The first Bond film I ever watched as a kid was with Moore so for me, he was always the "true" James Bond.

I also remember Roger Moore played a Bond type character in Cannonball Run. He wasn't bond but he had a bond type car. Awesome movie, I need to see it again. (But I haven't seen it since I was a kid so it may not be as cool as I remember).
