Rank the Guardian albums
The only albums I know are Fire & Love and Miracle Mile and I'm curious what everyone thinks are the other great albums. I know their later albums are more alt and grunge right?

Other than those two I only like First Watch.

Re: Rank the Guardian albums
I think Buzz gets a bad rap. The guitar tone was vastly different and there was more of a grunge sound, but the songs still had good melodies and outstanding lyrics. I really like that album.
In my above rankings, nos 2-4 are really interchangeable on any given day. I love the top 4 and I like Almost Home, though it’s clearly a step down from those first four.

4. Swing Swang Swung.
5. Buzz.
6. Bottle Rocket.
7. Almost Home.
Fire and Love is one of my top 3 albums of all time.
Yes, Buzz and Bottle Rocket are alt and grunge.
The way I understand it, Swing Swang Swung was supposed to be an acoustic EP that got bigger and bigger and then they added electric elements and it turned into just a different album. It's grown on me over the years though.

I really like Guardian's catalog except for First Watch. I've listened to it a few times and find the vocals to be very weak. While the vocalist has a good voice, there's just not enough power behind the vocals.
Swing Swang Swung is only as low as it is on my list because I have to be in the mood for something a little different. I really like how they did this album.

Almost Home is a decent record; it just needs more heavy songs, maybe the songs from the EP Three to Get Ready.

This is helping a lot. I haven't really cared to check out First Watch because I know Jamie Rowe isn't on that album.

Re: Rank the Guardian albums
I never bothered getting their latest album and I disliked Bottle Rocket so much that I traded or gave it away.

Has anyone here listened to KALAMITY KILLS? It's a kinda heavy metal project started by Jamie Rowe and it's really good.

Kalamity Kills is an excellent band with diverse styles; you must keep your ears open when you hear this record. Also, the lyrics are great. Here is a review from Heavens Metal.

Re: Rank the Guardian albums
I loved the earlier stuff there first album was amazing and the second album was even better but when they Swung for the alternative scene I was out and didn't buy any of there material till the Stryper Ep they re did. To me they where a band who gave the middle finger to their older fan base and didn't even care how we felt they just abruptly changed and threw a hissy fit at any criticism they got. But Tony their lead guitarist my my who could touch that kind of talent unless your Chris Oliva the man is a genius

3. Buzz
4. First Watch
5. Bottle Rocket
6. Swing Swamg Swing
Almost Home just didn't cut it. It made the band seem old and tired. Most of the album is more akin to Third Day than Guardian.
