Christian bands Whose best album is their debut
Detritus - Perpetual Defiance
Living Sacrifice - Living Sacrifice
Those are three that immediately come to my mind.

It shouldn't be. The debut is much better.
A lot of metal albums/bands are "legendary" but overrated. And a lot are ignored and better than the big names.

The Brave - they’ve never sounded as good as they did on Battle Cries. James Salters was irreplaceable.

King's X (not sure if it's allowed on this list...)
It's personal opinion, but I don't agree with those who've mentioned Morty, Tourniquet, LS.

I do. I like the straightforward, British Steel era Priest (the greatest metal band imo) sound, but with thicker guitar tone and production. It also ends with their two best songs. I never get tired of “Steee KILLAAAAA!” I do like their new stuff, though.

I used to also say the s/t by The Crucified, but I like Pillars slightly more nowadays.

I like the straightforward thrashy style on the s/t Mortification… but the drums, unique guitar sound and heavy guttural vocals are much better on Scrolls!

I don't understand why people say the first morty album is just really heavy thrash. It's death imo.TZ75 wrote:Christian Thrash Rules wrote:Over Scrolls? I love the debut, but Scrolls is legendary.Temple of Blood wrote:Mortification

It’s considered death/thrash. Kinda like Beneath the Remains by Sepultura. Steve also was influenced by the German thrash bands with the harsh vocals (Destruction, Sodom etc…)

Scrolls had a guitar sound that was deliberately crafted with a death metal style. Mick Carlisle started to use those trademark picking patterns.

The first is groundbreaking and iconic, but for me Pillars is SOOOO much better music.
