Gary Lenaire, Guy Ritter & Luke Easter - Tourniquet tribute band live at Immortal Fest 2024 video clips

To avoid more spamming in the Immortal Fest 2024 thread and to bring it to the attention of people who might not follow that thread, I thought to create a thread focusing only on the new Tourniquet "reunion" that happened a few days ago.

For those who didn't know, former members of Tourniquet, Gary Lenaire, Guy Ritter and Luke Easter shared the stage in a Tourniquet tribute band called StB (Stop the Bleeding) in the 27th of July 2024.

For fans of Tourniquet and Christian metal in general it was a historic moment.
This was the first time since 1993 Guy Ritter, the lead vocalist of the first three Tourniquet albums, had performed Tourniquet songs live on stage since his departure from the band.
It was also the first time since 1996 Gary Lenaire had played Tourniquet songs live on stage.
Luke Easter was the vocalist of Tourniquet from 1993 to 2015 and it was the first time he's been involved with anything Tourniquet related in a decade.
And the biggest surprise of them all, both Guy Ritter and Luke Easter shared the stage and sang together in the encore songs - for the Christian Metal scene this was pretty much the same as when Helloween started to play live with Michael Kiske, Andi Deris and Kai Hansen sharing the stage.

The rest of the band consists of Anna Sentina on bass, Neil Swanson on guitar and Devin Chaulk (Haste the Day) on drums.

I think it was important that when people were chanting Tourniquet that Luke corrected them and said they were Stop The Bleeding. I think that is a critical distinction they wanted to make. Without Ted and considering how and when all this came about after his death, it is a new band playing their former band's material.

For me that was both interesting and encouraging. They could potentially move forward with it without being accused of tarnishing a legacy or moving on without Ted.

That said, it was amazing to witness and I was left wanting a lot more!

I think the only song we haven't yet heard is Phantom Limb. Not sure if they played it. It was in their set list and Gary posted a short rehearsal clip of it a while ago on Facebook. For some reason I haven't yet seen a single video of that.

So cool! StB should release this as a live album and throw in a couple of newly recorded songs!

They did play Phantom Limb.

The music needs to live on.

The only person that was a misstep participating in Tourniquet was Les Carlsen. His voice didn’t work in my opinion. He was the wrong “guy” (pun intended).

Luke handled that perfectly!

I like it how the audience got the Tourniquet chants out of their system (hey, who wouldn't want to yell Tourniquet in front of Guy and Gary!!) and looks like it was quite the blast from the past for Guy and Gary too. And when it continued later Luke managed to fix the situation with respect and humor and the audience reacted back with respect and humor.

These videos by Adam on Youtube from almost the front row are fantastic! Not only they look and sound great and you can hear a lot of audience reactions, but these videos also have speeches etc included!

I wonder if I could compile and edit a full show with these videos. I'd love to do that but I might not have time to do that. And we're still missing the Phantom Limb video that for some reason no-one has uploaded it on Youtube yet.

Just came across Phantom Limb. Checking out the tribute it's very moving and awesome!

What an awesome weekend! It was worth the drive from Atlanta to see STB and Deliverance alone! Great to meet Frozen Fire in person too!

I hope Ted is watching from heaven and smiling.

We had a blast. We are looking forward to doing it again in Sweden this coming March (for two hours....) and again at the BMI Center in June. Stoked you all liked what you've seen, and hopeful you'll dig whats coming in the not-so-distant future.

BTW, I wasn’t at Immortal but y’all looked great in the YouTube video’s.

Hopefully STB will be recording music (assuming STB will stay separate from Flood).

Anyways… whatever it is “in the not too distant future”, I’m looking forward to it!

We just announced another show at BMI Center in June  - the not-so-distant future.....

On your way back from Sweden, how about a gig in the UK?  Just ask the pilot to stop for a few hours.  I'll be there!

Is that the first time Guy has performed Phantom Limb at a show?

That would also include the Sweden show (in March). Both are in the not too distant future.  

The way you wrote the last post, it sounded like there was a third surprise coming down the pike. 

But it’s cool that there will be at least two more STB shows! 

I’m all for an annual STB “Tourniquet tribute” every year. It sucks when an irreplaceable member or members die from a band… obviously the Tourniquet name is retired. There will be nothing like what Pantera is doing now without Dime and Vinnie. But hearing the surviving members playing the songs live is still wonderful. Just like STB is doing.

I would love another album in the style of the debut that had a similar vocal performance.
