Favorite Christian Core Albums
I know most of us on here aren't very big on any Core genres so I'm curious what peoples favorite Core albums are. One of my favorites is Oh, Sleeper - Son Of The Morning. It's such a good album. Another one of my favs is Saving Grace - The King Is Coming. It's the only Deathcore I ever liked. It feels less actual core and more just core influenced.

BTA, Living Sacrifice and Demon Hunter are about the only core influenced bands I listen to.

I don't think BTA is super core influenced. Living Sacrifice is full Metalcore now imo. Demon Hunter I'm not sure. Their first album is just Nu Metal (Slipknot sound), The Triptych has a little core influence but not that much. I haven't listened to anything past The Triptych though so maybe they're more core now.Black Rider wrote:BTA, Living Sacrifice and Demon Hunter are about the only core influenced bands I listen to.

Re: Favorite Christian Core Albums
I’m not a fan of any core. I’m very selective of a few songs from a few groups. Maybe LS and DH…a few of their core songs. Give me classic, power, thrash, melodic, prog and hair metal any day.
What exactly is the definition of core anyway?

Re: Favorite Christian Core Albums
Well core ranges a whole lot. The big definition is down-tuned guitars and break-downs. Deathcore is basically just death metal with breakdowns. Easycore is pop-punk mixed with metalcore, so catchy choruses, cool riffs, heavy breakdowns with growling vocals. Easycore is my favorite sub genre of core.Ammocas wrote:I’m not a fan of any core. Forgot about the first 2 Zao albums too. After Blood and Fire Bring Rest they lost me a little. The vocals while good for the genre became more and more harder for me to decipher

Re: Favorite Christian Core Albums
I tend to be picky about what I like in this genre but there are a few bands that I still love and listen to regularly:
Saving Grace "The King is Coming"
Phinehas "The Last Word is Yours To Speak"
War of Ages "Dominion"
Wolves At The Gate "Eulogies"
Fit for a King "Dark Skies"
Sleeping Giant "Kingdom Days In An Evil Age"
Bands like Becoming the Archetype and Demon Hunter I don't think of as metalcore but they are my favorites above all these others.
Attallus "Into the Sea," My Epic "Yet," Everything in Slow Motion "Phoenix," and Hands "Give Me Rest" are other huge favorites that fall outside the mold but have notable hard-core influences.
It has been years though since I really enjoyed a new band in the genre.
