Family life
...or a lack thereof.
Been having some major problems with my tribe lately. Firstly, I have an 85-year-old dad who constantly barges in my locked home when the mood strikes. (My slightly younger brother and I share a duplex.) I am typically getting off work, getting dressed, resting after my 8-hour, third-shift job when he bursts in (he has his own key) , doesn't call and/or text before arriving, and, despite what I'm doing, begins speaking. Sigh...ever since my mom passed in 2014, he has done this.
Tonight was the breaking point. I'm literally shoveling supper into my mouth when he barges in, informing me that my other brand my niece are coming. "Dad, can I eat in peace?"
From there, things turn to . Pent-up frustration mounts and I call him out. He starts cussing me. I lost my too and gave like I got. Then my roomie brother involves himself. Although I normally leave for work around 7:30 or so, I bailed at 7.
I ask for your prayers. I don't know where else to go with any of this.

Re: Family life
^^ I’m sorry that you have to go through that…sometimes family gets messy, especially with elderly folks. Right now I’m praying for God to give you peace in your life and the strength to deal with him.

Continued prayer.
Is Father's Day a possible organic opportunity to reach out?

Re: Family life
We all (including my visiting Middle brother and my niece) might go out to eat tonight. This could be a moment of healing.

Re: Family life
Had the same issue with our daughter; we told her we needed the key, also assuring she is always welcome to swing by.BaleMaster wrote:he bursts in (he has his own key) , doesn't call and/or text
We didn't say why -avoided complaining or arguing or reasoning. Had no clue how it would go (was painless and quick).
Alternately we planned to change the lock.
We were not looking forward to it, but figured whatever mess we would face was less than the endless pain of status quo.
Lord have mercy on your servants.

Re: Family life
I mailed off his late Father's Day card and texted him about it. Life has been fairly miserable and stressful lately; hopefully, it will improve soon.

I'm so glad to hear! May this positive trend continue and true/deep healing take place.
