Favorite Albums That Aren't Really Metal But Are Kinda Metal?
My answers are Will Of The People and Drones by Muse. I love both these albums and they're both not far from metal (Drones is more consistently heavy) and certain songs are definitely metal (Kill Or Be Killed, Defector, Psycho and a few more)

Epta Astera. Not metal enough to have a Metal Archives page, but definitely has metal elements

Most hair metal, if Metal Archives is to be believed.

I think we need a different sub-genre for Stryper. They're better/heavier than most if not all other hair metal.

Sometimes they have sketchy lyrics, but Whitesnake blows Stryper out of the water musically. On the Christian side, so does Rage of Angels’ one and only album

Whitesnake’s self-titled/1987 is a monster album. John Sykes’ shredding + Coverdale’s vocals=magic.

. You keep saying this but that doesn't make it true. The original stuff is very poppy and the new stuff isn't really hair metal.Christian Thrash Rules wrote:I think we need a different sub-genre for Stryper. They're better/heavier than most if not all other hair metacr
Oz is a decent guitar player but there are so many that are better.

I don't listen to any Stryper pre THWTD. I prefer the newer stuff.Black Rider wrote:. You keep saying this but that doesn't make it true. Leonov come to mind. Awesome dreamy, doomy, post-rock/metal.
I'm still upset at the Metal Archives for rejecting my entry of Chase The Sun, but for whatever reason they didn't make the "metal enough" cut for them. Regardless, they're great and certainly have a metallic edge if not actual "metal."
Likewise, the Metal Archives rejected Death Therapy who are very good too!
40 Watt Sun's first album is melodic doom metal, but while their next two albums are quite doomy, there's not really any metal left in 'em. Still very good listens IMO.
I'd also add Enduring Revery, Heidre, and Részletkérdés.

I fully agree with CTR.
Stryper were indeed more metallic/aggressive than most other 80s glam/pop metal bands (I should know, I grew up on the stuff).
Mainly because 80s Stryper was half glam/pop and half melodic/traditional metal.
These days they simply leave out most of the old pop metal influence.
We'll get off your lawn now, BR.

I don’t think classic Stryper is any heavier than Dokken or Ratt.
I could be wrong. It happens every decade or so.

Stryper wasn't heavier than Ratt, Skid Row, Dokken, Shotgun Messiah, Blue Murder, GnR etc.
