Hair Metal is gold
Because gold, despite being metal, is softer than many rocks

100%. And few genres can compete with hair metal at its best when it comes to hooks.Black Rider wrote:Most hair metal guitarists could play circles around most nu metal players.

I agree with that. Holy Soldier is my favorite hair band, but they're much softer than Stryper or Whitecross. They just have such great hooks.Pethead wrote:100%. Ik. This was kind of a joke thread.Black Rider wrote:Exactly. It's not always about how heavy you can be and I love Thrash and DM.

Leave it to the Megadeth fan to judge music quality off the talent of the playersBlack Rider wrote:Most hair metal guitarists could play circles around most nu metal players.
Ok, I'm just kidding. Aside from Deth being great in both ways, talent does contribute a lot. And most hair metal is objectively better than most nu metal, it just doesn't pump me up as much... but then again neither does thrash, even though I prefer thrash overall easily.

Yeah, I thought that was incorrect lolBlack Rider wrote:That's not why thrash bands started. They were heavily influenced by NWOBHM like Diamond Head etc. and started incorporating speed into it.

Lol really!?!Christian Thrash Rules wrote:Well thrash bands developed the thrash sound because they thought hair metal wasn't real metal, so they played real metal.
So, Hair Metal is fake Metal? Tell that to all the bands that played in L.A. on the strip. Yeah, ok, it was all fake…not real…Fugazi…haha!

Why I don’t like the label “hair” Metal, although I use it. Glam is also a tricky label, because 70s glam and 80s glam are quite different.Superjuice wrote:Pethead wrote:Hair metal's popularity arose around the same time as thrash came on the scene. But I think a lot of people would agree that Metal Health helped make the sound mainstream that a lot of recognizable hair bands followed.
That being said, I don’t particularly care how anyone categorizes Metal Health. My main point was that thrash developed too early to be a reaction to hair metal.
