Saving Grace, Death or Thrash?
Saving Grace, Death Or Thrash
Do you guys think that the Christian Metal band Saving Grace is Death Metal or Thrash Metal? If you've never heard them this is a good song to start with:
If you think other give your opinion on what genre they are.

I can see that. A lot of the stuff they play sound more like thrash influenced than core influenced. Even though a lot of people say they are metalcore.

To me they always had the speed and aggression of Death Metal with core breakdowns

Is garbage metal a genre?
Just kidding.
Maybe.
No, it's ok.
His lower register death vocals are good.
Sounds like a groove/thrash/death combo with a touch of core influence.

They do have breakdowns like core genres do but, so does Metallica. One, Am I Savage etc. And tons of other Thrash and death metal bands have breakdowns.

Re: Saving Grace, Death Or Thrash
After doing research they might be deathcore. Which I would consider a subgenre of death metal

Re: Saving Grace, Death Or Thrash
I have all their stuff. They run the line well on a number of genres. I'd say at their root they are hard-core/metalcore because of the breakdowns, the way they use gang vocals, and the lyrical bend. Yet they have a lot of thrash/death metal in their sound. They were a big band for me in the genre because how well they did all those styles.
Unfortunately, despite being active again, only one original member remains. I'm curious about lyrical direction with a new singer since they have musicians with and without faith in their ranks.
