I like the cover to 72 Seasons a lot. But yeah, the Loads are really bad, especially if you know what they are (though at least Reload looks like it's fire at first, Load it's obvious what it isseth wrote:Not counting all the blasphemous crap found on a lot of black and death metal albums, Metallica’s Load and Reload are pretty hard to beat. In fact all Metallica covers besides RtL, MoP, AJ4A, and St. Anger (ironically enough) are pretty bad, but the Loads take the cake
Re: Worst Cover Art (Non Christian Metal)
Wonder why the label wanted it... As I've said before, if they had went with a different cover, the world would be a better place.Black Rider wrote:I don't mind the Human Factor cover, nothing great but not terrible. The band hated the Hanging cover but the label forced it through.

I would bet serious money the 72 seasons cover is AI generated. I guess in that sense it reflects the music wellStevenCressler wrote:I like the cover to 72 Seasons a lot. Why - IN THE WORLD - would the label force the Hanging In The Balance cover on the band?
Who looked at that crap and said "yeah that will sell like hot cakes"?
That cover is absolutely idiotic.

This is discussed in the Metal Church book that just came out. I can't recall all the details.
One thing that some of you are missing regarding this is that their manager at the time co-owned the label, Blackheart Records, with Joan Jett.
I think another factor here is that "metal" was a dirty word at the time this came out. So I imagine that "having a sense of humor" was seen as a better approach than "being ultra-METAL".

I said in another thread that the woman on the cover looks like the mom is all the yo momma jokes. Many people agreed.seth wrote:The only merit I can see in the Hanging in the Balance cover is an endless opportunity for yo momma jokes lol

The album cover presents a visually captivating composition, with its harmonious blend of vibrant colors and intricate design elements. The choice of typography complements the overall aesthetic, exuding a sense of modernity and sophistication. The central imagery evokes a sense of intrigue, inviting the viewer to delve deeper into the auditory journey promised within. Overall, it's a visually striking and aesthetically pleasing representation that undoubtedly piques curiosity and leaves a lasting impression.
