Haven't listened to the new song yet but Saxon never gets enough credit for their early contributions to metal.  
Younger folks don't know what it was like to have very few choices of hard rock music back in the late 70's/early 80's.  Wheels Of Steel, Denim & Leather, and Strong Arm of the Law were some of the heaviest albums out there in 1980-81.

I don’t think Saxon has as high of highs as Maiden, but they’ve been a bit more consistent.

I love Saxon the most when they play epic songs like on The Inner Sanctum and Into the Labyrinth. This new song has a nice grandiose touch, I'll keep an eye on the album.
