I noticed the new logo a few days ago....it's good.
Do you have any stats on how many people visit the site? I'd be curious.

I'd have to request that info, I don't manage it myself. Once I get it I'll share it.Constantine wrote:I noticed the new logo a few days ago....it's good.

What's the timing schedule of your publishing of reviews? I'm trying to space them out a certain way, to see what fits.
You publish a review ______ days before the release?
I've got my eye on a few, but I don't want to overextend and then turn in rushed, crappy work.

Scott, here are the general guidelines for these reviews:scottmitchell74 wrote:What's the timing schedule of your publishing of reviews? I'm trying to space them out a certain way, to see what fits.
You publish a review ______ days before the release?
I've got my eye on a few, but I don't want to overextend and then turn in rushed, crappy work.
1. Please refrain from sharing the link as the promotional material contains watermarks that could potentially lead back to you.
2. Kindly forward the review [to KaramKaram] at least 5 days prior to the release date, with an earlier submission being preferable.
3. Submit the review as a Word document to lotsofmuzik@gmail.com.
4. Include the name under which you wish to be credited in the review; using a pseudonym is perfectly acceptable.
5. Conclude the review with a rating on a scale of 1 to 10, where 10 represents the highest rating.
6. Maintain honesty in your assessment, even if you have reservations about the content. Rest assured, we won't censor your opinions. While the label or band may not always appreciate negative feedback, integrity is paramount in our approach.
These reviews can be challenging but are good writing practice. I do wish we could go back and correct or change things after they are published, but that doesn't seem to be an option. At some point though you just have to press send and be done with it. I have a tendency to re-write and re-write, and always find things I want to change.....

Re: UPCOMING ALBUMS (UPDATED September 5, 2024)
Back in the day, we used to drop reviews as soon as we got the write-up (like a whole month before the release date). Then a couple of labels came our way with some advice – they suggested it's cooler to publish them between 7 to 15 days before the release date. You know, some labels slap embargoes on reviews and interviews.
Take Son of Num, for instance. He's set to chat with Borgnagar in two days, and the PR note is crystal clear: **EMBARGO: Interviews are NOT TO BE POSTED until 10 days prior to release day (Feb. 23) at the earliest**.
So, we mulled it over and decided, "Okay, let's roll with our reviews and interviews somewhere between 5 to 15 days before the release date." But hey, we're not here to stress you guys out. If you can swing it and deliver the reviews on the actual release day or even later, it's all good with us.
Take yesterday, for example. On the release day of Caligula's Horse's latest album, our reviewer, who happens to be a doctor juggling a full-on career and patients, managed to finish his review. Writing for LOM is more of a labor of love for him, and honestly, it's the same for me. I'm not making bank from this – downloading albums, organizing lists, reaching out to labels and bands – it's all in the name of passion. Right now, LOM is pulling in just cents a day from ads. But here's the plan: as we keep growing, we want to spread the love and share the revenue among all of us – the reviewers, writers, website and social media folks.
NOTE: If, for any reason, you find yourself with a review that needs a little more time than expected, just give us a shout. We totally get that life can throw curveballs, and we'd rather know upfront so we can adjust our expectations and plans accordingly. Communication is key, and we're all in this together!
