Albums that could be improved by altering the track listing?
What are some albums that could be improved if you altered the track listing? I'm listening to Neon Cross S/T, and I feel that On The Rock would have been a better opener, I guess they wanted a heavier song (Heartbreaker) to open though. Also, Alice Cooper's Along Came A Spider really should have made Salvation the final track as it's just thrown right in the middle of the narrative of the story (I doubt it's part of the story).

I have to say the first album that comes to mind is Stryper's Against The Law
The last three tracks are my personal favorites, so I think putting them earlier in the tracklist would be an improvement
I think having All For One as the opener would completely change the energy of the album from the on set
Caught In The Middle is definitely more of a track 4 or 5
Rock The Hell Out Of You could be like song 7 or 8
1. All For One
2. Rock The People
3. Two Time Woman
4. Against The Law
5. Caught In The Middle
6. Lady
7. Rock The Hell Out Of You
8. Shining Star
9. Not That Kind of Guy
10. Two Bodies
11. Ordinary Man
I think this is a pretty ideal change to the track list

You've got me thinking about this one, now. I know this is a subjective thing, so I'm going to suggest my opinion. I think Rock the Hell Out of You has to finish off the album, as they often have a high energy anthem to complete albums (at least from the albums I'm familiar with): The Reign, God, King of Kings, I.G.W.T.Hardcore Christian wrote:I have to say the first album that comes to mind is Stryper's Against The Law

I agree with your #5, it should be in the middle of the album.
I'm having a hard time seeing All For One at the start. If we were still making cassettes, I might suggest it at the end of A or the beginning of B.
I'd never really thought of this song order as being wanting, HardCore, but when you mentioned that the last 3 are some of the strongest ones, I agree that at least 2 of them should be earlier on. But at this point I'm not sure where.

I also find it odd that Van Halen II starts with the sludgy cover of You're No Good. I'd put that later in the album (maybe even as the closing track) and have Beautiful Girls or Light Up The Sky as the opener.

Deliverance: Stay of Execution. “Horrendous Disc” is a great cover of a great tune, but it breaks the flow of the album and would be better at the end.
Petra: Never Say Die. “The Coloring Song” is a poor opener and the excellent rockers on the rest of side 1 should be spread out over the album.

Wintersun - Wintersun. The tracks are in order of increasing length and the pacing feels weird. There are a few ways I think it could be arranged better.

I tend to notice how some albums have terrible opening songs that I always end up skipping. Hard to remember them all, but a few come to mind...
The latest Def Leppard, likewise "Hysteria"....
Barren Cross "Rattle Your Cage" - the opening track is the worst one IMO...very tedious, a skip track for me.
Dark Sky's "Initium" - the first two full songs are the weakest ones....
Messenger "In To Win" - gets better past the first few songs....
Iron Maiden's "NOTB" - "Invaders" is the weakest song on the album....
Heart "Dreamboat Annie" - title track is the opener, not a great song....
Aerosmith "Rocks" - I think they should have started it with "Rats In The Cellar" instead of "Back in The Saddle"....
Pink Floyd's "Division Bell" is not sequenced very well....
Soul Factor "Resurgence of Chaos" starts out with 2 tedious songs....
Philadelphia's "Warlord" - I would have arranged the songs differently, the opener is weak....
I know there are so any more but I can't remember them all now....or maybe ever....
