Since I grew up with them it's hard to not say an album like Crusader but I'd probably go Dogs of War. It's like a middle ground of the classics and the newer.

Virgin Steele - The Passion Of Dionysus

Definitely a big step up from the last 3 albums. Easily the best since Visions Of Eden. Would have been so much better with real drums though.
