I actually think they're coming through my neck of the woods this summer. But it's 3 1/2 hours away, and I'm scared they'll play mostly new stuff and I'm not a fan of the last couple albums.

If they were a bit closer I'd go.

Here I am complaining about a big band coming through when usually I complain to you guys that no big bands come through. I've got a complaining problem...

I enjoy the longer songs--they have great instrumental sections. Dream theater chose to make sparser arrangements during the extended instrumental parts on this album and I like it. 

The drums aren't as strong, because Petrucci and Rudess pretty much wrote them all ahead of time and asked Mangini to replicate the midi tracks. But I still do enjoy them for the most part.

I can't stand the shorter songs, though. They're supposed to be ballads but, IMHO, they sound forced and mechanical. 

So overall, do I think it's one of their weaker albums? I'd say no, b/c there are actually quite a few of their albums that I don't care for. But if I was forced to listen to every song every time I listened to the album, I'd probably agree with you.

A little bit. I have a couple of the CDs but haven't spent much time with them. I usually just reach for Kataklysm haha.
