I agree, Crimson. I love, love, love Megadeth, but there are very few songs that I turn to when I yearn for emotional/spiritual lyrical expression.CrimsonWarrior wrote:Lyrics can have a strong impact on my enjoyment of an album, and Weapons is probably the most edifying metal album I've ever heard...so that is part of why it comes in first for me.Black Rider wrote:While I love Weapons, nothing touches RIP, it's the gold standard for thrash.CrimsonWarrior wrote:Megadeth - Rust in Peace
I think this is my second favorite thrash album, beaten only by Weapons of our Warfare.

Songs from that album? Yes. But not all of them...Pethead wrote:Like Mirror of Souls?Sevenoneself wrote:I agree, Crimson. Sounds like a mix of Uriah Heep, BOC and old Yes.

Went on a shopping trip with the wife and this album is the kind of metal she can stand.

Pretty standard modern Metalcore. Gives me some Breakdown of Sanity vibes but nowhere near as good.

Then, they wanted to hear Metallica. So we played some some selections from Master of Puppets and AJfA. They complained that that songs were repetitive and TOO long. So we switched to the Black album.

We shall pray for them.Sevenoneself wrote:My two youngest kids (ages 12 and 14) and I listened to most of the Megadeth songs with "..." in the title. We were trying to figure out if there was a common theme/element or not. I had listened to an interview awhile back where Mustaine talked about the writing of Holy Wars..., but we don't really know any other info. We came to the conclusion that they continue to do it b/c it's cool.

This album blew me away when I first heard it years ago. So raw and personal.

There's a live in studio version of this album. It sounds great, I love these kinds of live studio recordings
