Post Vanishing Lessons
A list please of what you think, or collectively what TQT fans think are the best songs comprised from all the albums post Vanishing Lessons. Give me the skinny you might say so I can check them out.
Only listened to Besprinkled in Scarlet Horror, which I like.
Thank you.

Re: Post Vanishing Lessons
I'm like you, I haven't listened to much Tourniquet after VL. However, I do know CtC and MVoaTR. Here are the ones I'd recommend you to listen to:
Crawl to China: there are some awesome songs here, but I think many fans didn't think they were arranged very carefully; a little self-indulgent and too experimental. Best ones:
- White Knucklin' the Rosary
- Crawl to China
- If I Was There (acoustic rock in the vein of When The Love is Right)
- Enveloped in Python
- Claustrospelunker
- If Pigs Could Fly - the core song is brilliant, but it does go on for quite awhile
Microscopic: first 4 tracks
- Besprinkled...
- Drinking from the...
- Microscopic View...
- The Tomb of Gilgamesh

I see that Gilgamesh and microscopic seem to have struck a "chord" with fans. I'll give those a listen then check out some other ones on your list too. Thanks Seven.Sevenoneself wrote:I'm like you, I haven't listened to much Tourniquet after VL. However, I do know CtC and MVoaTR. Here are the ones I'd recommend you to listen to:

Honestly, Microscopic View and Moth and Rust are really solid all the way through, but here’s a few from each album:
Carry the Wounded: title track, Heads I Win, Tails You Lose
Collected Works: Perfect Night for a Hanging, The Hand Trembler
Crawl to China: Claustrospelunker, Crawl to China, White Knucklin’ the Rosary, Going, Going…Gone
Acoustic Archives: Trivializing the Momentous, Complicating the Obvious
Microscopic View: first 4 plus The Skeezix Dilemma 2
Moth and Rust: Title track, Restoring the Locust Years, Architeuthis, Melting the Golden Calf, Convoluted Absolutes, Healing Waters of the Tigris
Antiseptic Bloodbath: The Maiden Who Slept in the Glass Coffin, Chamunda Temple Stampede, Flowering Cadaver, Lost Language of the Adamans, Fed by Ravens, Eaten by Vultures
Gazing at Medusa: Sinister Scherzo, The Crushing Weight of Eternity, The Peaceful Beauty of Brutal Justice, the title track

Re: Post Vanishing Lessons
Oh, I forgot about Carry the Wounded and Where Moth & Rust Destroy!!
CtW: if you don't like metal you won't like any of these.
- When The Love Is Right (world famous for a wedding ballad)
- Oh Well (awesome cover of Fleetwood Mac's song)
WMaRD:
- Where Moth & Rust Destroy
- Restoring the Locust Years
- Melting the Golden Calf
- Healing Waters of the Tigris
I don't know if this is considered sacrilegious or not, but I did create carefully edited abridged versions of Drawn & Quartered and A Ghost at the Wheel (both WMaRD) to cut out long ambient parts, and those songs have now become favourites of mine as well. If you're interested and own the album, PM me.

Carry the Wounded EP
Listen the title track, Carry the Wounded. It's a rather mellow hard rock track, but it's the heaviest song on that EP. Great groove and good melodies.
The Collected Works of Tourniquet compilation
You HAVE to listen to Perfect Night for a Hanging and The Hand Trembler. They are the last songs with Victor Macias and Gary Lenaire on board and are probably the heaviest tracks Tourniquet has ever recorded.
Crawl to China
This album is their least "metal" album. It's a mixture of hard rock and groove metal, with even a bit of punk and grunge here and there.
White Knucklin' a Rosary is the fan favorite. It has a great groovy riff.
Tire Kicking is the album's fastest track. Reminds me of Motörhead a bit.
Going Going Gone is the heaviest track of the album and Proprioception (The Line Knives Syndrome) has some REALLY good riffs once you get over the initial rock opening.
Acoustic Archives
Trivializing the Momentous, Complicating the Obvious is a MUST LISTEN!! It's one of Tourniquet's heaviest tracks.
Microscopic View of a Telescopic Realm
Erratic Palpitations of the Human Spirit is one of the fastest songs Tourniquet has ever recorded. It has slow parts but when it gets fast it's really fast!
The Tomb of Gilgamesh is a fan favorite they seemed to always play on their live shows.
You might also want to check out The Skeezix Dilemma Part II because it's a "sequel" to the classic original. It's a great song. Fast and heavy.
Where Moth and Rust Destroy
Drawn and Quartered was my favorite track from this album for a long time.
People usually love Healing Waters of the Tigris too. It gets fast after 3,5 minutes and has very long solos of ex-Megadeth guitarist Marty Friedman. It has a "drum solo" in the middle of the song too
For some insane bass drum work check out Melting the Golden Calf.
Antiseptic Bloodbath
The title track Antiseptic Bloodbath is my favorite song on the album. Fast and dark song.
Lost Language of the Andamans gets REALLY GOOD after 3 minutes or so.
Flowering Cadaver has a part starting after about 2,5 minutes that to me represents modern Tourniquet as best as possible.
Onward to Freedom (although it's more of a Ted Kirkpatrick solo album than a Tourniquet album)
Drowning in Air is probably the most tourniquetish song in the album, apart from the "metalcore" vocals.
Let the Wild Just Be Wild is a good song with female vocals.
Gazing at Medusa
The title track, Gazing at Medusa, is among the best songs of Tourniquet and features amazingly good chorus vocals by Deen Castronovo.
The Crushing Weight of Eternity is among my favorites from this album.
The Peaceful Beauty of Brutal Justice seems to be a fan favorite. It's the heaviest song of the album.
I love Memento Mori. It's a slow doomy track. Very beautiful and haunting melodies.

Used to won all the albums up to Vanishing Things changed to much for after that and I lost interest. So going to catch up and see what my reckons is. Always enjoyed Ted's spin on music and his perspective on drumming and his style is so unique. It's very, TED.Sevenoneself wrote:Oh, I forgot about Carry the Wounded and Where Moth & Rust Destroy!!

Re: Post Vanishing Lessons
So now I'm seeing a pattern forming which is what I was wanting, so thank you very much for your time guys and giving me a good starting point. Will use these lists and have me a good listen come the weekend.
Where Moth and Rust destroy is the only other one I checked out so far, apart from getting reacquainted with the early albums again. Chorus has a nice melody. Quite liked that one too.
Thanks all for your time and effort.
