Re: LETTER 7
Yes, I think they are/were great. I have all 3 of their albums, and I'll have to go and pull them out again.
Re: LETTER 7
Yep! I have Salt of the Earth, Follow the Light, and Trust. I haven’t spun them in a while, either. I think Follow the Light was my favorite.
Re: LETTER 7
I am a huge admirer of Letter 7. Not sure why they are not more popular, but I know they rarely played live and their albums are hard to find and they don't get much press. I am hoping that one day their albums would get reissued so more people could hear them. I also wish they would reform and give us some more material eventually.
For anyone unfamiliar with the band, feel free to check out my "Best Of Letter 7" playlist on Spotify.
They have 3 albums out and the 1st and 3rd have the same singer but there is a different singer for the 2nd.
For straight-ahead 80's style metal, they are very hard to beat:

This band came up before in this forum, so I bought Salt of the Earth. It's ok but nothing special. Did I get the wrong one? This sort of thing has happened to me before.

Re: LETTER 7
Was it ever really a band? I thought JD Evans played all the instruments on the albums and then had guest vocalists. Of course, I have been wrong before.

I enjoy Salt of the Earth, but I recommend Follow the Light. I think it’s a stronger album.eatbugs wrote:This band came up before in this forum, so I bought Salt of the Earth. It's ok but nothing special. Did I get the wrong one? This sort of thing has happened to me before.

SOTE is decent but the 2nd and 3rd albums are definitely better. JD improved the songwriting and production. When I listen to Letter 7, I usually pull out Trust or Follow the Light. Both are outstanding.
This is probably my favorite Letter 7 song. The riff gets stuck in my head for days.

All three of those albums are fantastic, but I agree that the song-writing and production are better on the last two. Trust (the third) is probably my favorite. It's like they were just getting better with each release even if JD had a hard time keeping a line-up together.

Trust is my favorite too. Also, If anyone has any of their CDs and doesn't care for them and wants to trade any, send me a PM.
