Urgent prayer request

As some of you may know, my wife and I have been keeping a 16-year old girl who we previously fostered when she was 14. She went to live with her aunt after leaving foster care, but came back to live with us in a privately handled situation between us and the aunt in order to provide more stability for her (the aunt moves around a lot due to the unpredictable nature of her husband's work and where his next "gig" will be). As such, we will be taking over legal guardianship of her sometime soon, perhaps as soon as the end of June.

In any event, the girl's mom was just discovered this AM on her house floor, unconscious. She was rushed to the hospital and it was determined she had bleeding on the brain, and they suspected she had an aneurysm. She is currently mostly unresponsive and the doctors aren't sure whether or not she'll make it. She's in emergency surgery as I type this, and will be rushed to Omaha as soon as she's out of surgery and stabilized enough for transport. Please pray for her and for the family - the girl who lives with us is only recently saved and still very young in her faith, and the rest of the family is unsaved and "unchurched". Pray that God will use this experience to draw the unsaved family to him and that the 16-year old girl will grow through this experience, whatever the outcome. Please pray for healing for her mom as well for healing and recovery.

She came through surgery okay, and this AM she was responsive to voice and basic commands, so while she has a long way to go, it was a very encouraging sign!

She is awake, alert, and acting like herself, accordingly to the family. Praise God for His healing hand! Hopefully this will be a wake-up call for her to start taking better care of herself and her health. Thanks for all the prayers!

All reports are that she continues to improve, so I'll keep you all posted.

In the meantime, my wife has been hospitalized so she can be on IV antibiotics for a serious, long-standing infection we've not been able to get on top of with oral antibiotics. She was admitted last night and it's looking like a 3-day hospital stay, with a possibility of continued outpatient IV antibiotics so we can aggressively fight the infection. Please pray for recovery - she has been fighting serious infections for the last 3 years since we started down the path of sinus surgery, and after 2 surgeries and numerous courses of antibiotics, nothing has worked, so we're hopeful that this pro-active approach will finally nip this thing in the bud so we can get her feeling normal again. At that point, we'll probably see an immunologist because all the antibiotics have essentially nuked her immune system and we'll need to know how to keep her healthy going forward.
