Don’t buy them ... if there’s no market then why would they try and sell them to us... it’s that simple...just say no.

If it is an album I am wanting, I will buy them.  I am skipping most reissues if they don't contain some decent bonus tracks if I already own them.  I will buy a gold CD if that is my only choice for something that hasn't been released yet.

This is why we need to contact the labels directly!  First it seemed to be only Matthew Hunt, aka Boone's Overstock, Retroactive, Bombworks.  Now it appears that Roxx is getting in on this idiotic gold CD thing as well!  Who cares about the ones that they release multiple times!  It's recent re-releases such as Trytan's "Sylentiger", or Siloam's "Sweet Destiny" put out ONLY on gold CD that annoy me to no end.  There isn't a normal, time-tested silver-pressed CD released at all so now you're forced (if you want the release anyway) to purchase a gold CD that's literally no different whatsoever in sound to their silver counterparts and the price of a vinyl release to add insult to injury!  It's beyond pathetic and I'm losing ALL respect for Boone's Overstock, Roxx and anyone else who would try to take advantage of us, the fans and the ones that keep these labels afloat, in this way!  We need to make our voices heard loudly!  Send emails to the labels!  Post things on their facebook sites for those who do facebook!  You don't see ANY secular labels, major labels, or most smaller indie labels doing this!  Only our little fringe "Christian" labels are doing it!  I for one would love to know the profit they're making on these gold CDs.

The previous CD releases of both Sylentiger and Sweet Destiny are available for less than the cost of the new gold cds. I believe Sylentiger was even reissued by Foxx Records. (it was also reissued by M8 already)

Yes, the new release prices are whacked

Most people (including myself) who buy these sorts of CDS are really old, so is there any point in making these Gold CDs if we haven’t got long to live?!! Rolf 1Rolf 2

I'm thinking of getting the first three Bride albums in their latest reissue incarnation.  I have the originals on cassette but never upgraded.  Basically, the M8 quality was cheap and I just passed on the digipaks (because I don't like them and I do have the tapes after all).  Does anyone have them yet?  Is it really worth it, or should I just find the digipaks used somewhere?  Also, as pointed out in the OP the gold-bordered artworks is terrible.  Is the insert reversible?

I have the three Bride gold releases. The covers are reversible. I'm not an audiophile, but I found the sound better than on the digipaks. The "demon screeching" noise was omitted on this version which makes me happy. If you don't mind paying a bit extra, I'd recommend the gold editions. Or, I could sell you the digipaks in pretty good condition...

I don’t really hear a difference in sound quality. Maybe there is… but it’s very small.
