Bethlehem Steel
Does anybody remember a "christian" metal band in the 80's called Bethlehem Steel? or maybe a song by that title?
Whatever it is I'm thinking of I vividly remember listening to this (band or song) in the high school shop parking lot, in the 64 1/2 Mustang, on cassette, through twin rear deck 6x9s.
*** MID-POST UPDATE ***
I'm listening to the song Tell The Truth by Philadelphia as I write this and I'm wondering if this is actually what I'm thinking of...
Either way, I still have a strong memory of a band called Bethlehem Steel, but I cant find anything about them online...
How about you?

Yep, I saw them in concert with Watchmen back in the late 80s/early 90s. I believe that they were from the Seattle area.

It's been so long ago but I remember really liking them. I think Lifesaver or something like that also played. They were definitely metal..

Bethlehem Steel. Now there's a name I haven't hear in many, many moons. I had a copy of their demo that's gotten lost somewhere along the way. I can't remember the band members' names except for Chris Steel, the vocalist. They were from Seattle. The only lyric I remember is:
Lord, I just fell down
Scraped my spiritual knee along the ground
One of the first bands I was in were going to back Chris and the guitarist up for small gig, but it never came to fruition. Though we did start rehearsals.

Re: Bethlehem Steel
My brother played drums for Bethlehem Steele. Watchmen did a show at the Temple Theater in Tacoma and Bethlehem Steele opened for them. They also opened for Whitecross on the Hammer & Nail tour, along with Vigilance.

If there are any samples out there I'd like to hear them. I've never heard of this band and always love to discover a band I missed the first time around.

Perishing, anything ever come of this?
There is next to nothing about this band anywhere.
I found a track called "Man Enough" by a Bethlehem Steele on a
compilation record from 1985.
Although I don't know for sure it's them, pretty high odds
as the cover says they are from from Mountlake Terrace, WA
(incorrectly spelled Montlake)...
https://thecorroseum.org/comps/coversbig/metalmeltdown1-back.gif
the track is on bandcamp
https://pig-records.bandcamp.com/track/man-enough
and a not so glowing review I came across said:
Sloppy semi-ballad and a major disappointment considering the cool band name.

Re: Bethlehem Steel
It's really cool to discover these underground 80's bands who came and went.
I've never heard of them before but Vigilance was mentioned and I did used to have their demo (might still have it? Not sure). I also am a big Watchmen fan.

Re: Bethlehem Steel
What exactly does "Bethlehem Steel" mean anyway?
I know I'm asking too much here but combining Away in a Manger with Conan is pretty inane.

Re: Bethlehem Steel
Bethlehem Steel was a steel manufacturer in Seattle. If I remember correctly the band couldn't permission to use the name thus the spelling of the band's name Bethlehem Steele. The vocalist went by the stage name Chris Steele.
