Big (Little) News
I am incredibly excited to announce the birth of my daughter, Gloria Magdalene King. She was born yesterday (Labor Day) at 8:38am in the comfort of our home. Veronika went into labor Sunday night at around 11:00pm and championed her way through it to the morning. All went very well and both child and momma are doing great.
We chose to name her Gloria because - since we discovered that we were pregnant - it has been our prayer that God would bring glory to His Name through our child and this family. Magdalene has special importance because according to the Gospel of John, Mary Magdalene was the first person Jesus appeared to after His resurrection. Christ calls her by her name and she recognizes Him. This is our prayer for our beautiful daughter. Additionally, the “dalene” portion serves as a reminder of God’s awesome creation displayed here in the Coeur d’Alene area and our gratefulness for getting to live and raise her in such a wonderful place as this.

Re: Big (Little) News
Thank you everyone! We are just completely overjoyed and madly in love with her... and slightly exhausted haha. She's wonderful. She just had her first little checkup today by the midwives and all is looking great. Veronika is recovering well. We were a little concerned that Gloria wasn't getting much while breastfeeding since she hadn't really soiled her diapers, but this morning she absolutely WRECKED her diaper - to much excitement from her parents hahahaha.
Yes, but she was just so gorgeous from the gate that I couldn't resist. Maybe if she had been funny looking I would've waited hahaha. Is this one better? (During her checkup after she had just gotten her foot pricked to do a blood test...)
Hahaha boy I got quite the workout holding my wife up in the birth tub thing during labor and pushing so those arms are a bit tired in that picture! I figured someone here would appreciate the shirt.
Shameful I know... but we don't have any! I really should remedy that...

With both of ours the most massive diaper explosion happened at about 1 month. Be ye warned.

I am laughing way more than I should be at that... until someday I have kids. As well, my main she-friend is studying midwifery, so I'll probably get to find out about this kind of stuff even without having kids...

I posted this over at CHM but it is worth seeing again

That is how you two will look in a month or so.
Re: Big (Little) News
We're already pretty close to it!
Noted. I can't wait...
When I first heard of home births, midwives, and the like, I thought it was just for wing-ding hippies, but after researching midwifery, it seemed quite ideal. We went that route and Lord willing we have more children, we intend to do so in the future. There are a lot of health benefits (for both mom and baby) to do it naturally and un-medicated, and not much of any more risk - as well as mitigating other risks associated with hospital births. It was fascinating to learn about these things. We utilized the Bradley Method which worked quite well. I'm sure your lady-friend is familiar.
I showed this to Veronika and she gave me the green light to purchase. I'll be sure to post a picture once I buy it and it arrives.

Congratulations to your family -- there's no bigger news than a new baby!
Gloria King is a strong name.
You know this, of course, but your lives just changed forever.

I'm a bit late to the party, but congrats man! There's a thing about women going into labor on Labor Day, apparently
