I still find it amusing that the original series was so popular that it spawned 5 other television series, and no less than 13 movies.....yet it was canceled after it's 3rd season.

But lets not forget how young Star Wars is to either of these

It was quite the blunder for NBC

I didn't know about "Star Trek Discovery" coming next year.  Looking forward to it.

I am not too sure about "Discovery".  The makers of the show said they were going to push the envelope in terms of nudity and sexual content past what previous shows had done.  With them being subscription based, they can easily do that.  If it is too nasty, they can keep it.

Of course, it has to be better than "Enterprise" for me to be interested.  I hated "Captain Quantam"!

The only thing I heard was is that there is going be a gay character as part of the main cast, considering the show runner is gay himself it wasnt a surprise.

The good news is that despite that, he has previously a writer for Voyager and DS9

Also one of the chief writers is going to be the Director/Writer of The Wrath Of Khan and The Undiscovered Country

Oh and I dont know if you guys know but the show will be set about a decade before The Original Series which is about 80 years after Enterprise

I have been a long time Star Trek fan. I'm looking forward to the new Discovery show. Though I wish we could get some movies from back in the Prime timeline. The Abramsverse is okay, but I'd love to see Picard & crew one more time in a more fitting finale than Nemesis.

I would like to see a Star Trek set in a distant future. Perhaps several centuries after the Picard era. Perhaps the Federation has dissolved and stories could be built around that?
